The crazy thing about that LSx swap is its almost as reliable as the 4.0 and gets much better gas mileage while spitting out 350 ponies.

Picking up a 01 Denali for 6.0/4L65 swap into my Tacoma. Time has come for more power the super charger isn't cutting it with the 46's. Trying to find info on making the tac work. Would still like that. Any info would be appreciated.

I’m actually trying to figure out the same thing for a second gen, how to get the tach to work.

heres mine as i was finishing it up back in February. She rips now for sure. For the Tach i used a dakota digital converter box, i have a psi conversion harness that just has an easy one wire out for tach to the cluster.

it was for my cowl intake for the v6, it’s too small for the Ls.

you can use a standalone like me AEM and it can control the gauges. It has alot of adjustment to match actual rpm eng temp. etc.

Damn sick trucks, I would never be able to do it but an LS would definitely be a dream engine for the taco. The bigger chevys with those motors are pretty peppy I can only imagine a lighter truck like the Tacoma would haul ass.

In my previous life, I had a 2500 6.0 gasser as my tow pig and a ~900whp Z06 corvette. I know quite well what the LS is capable of...

I replaced both of those vehicles with my tacoma to pay off some bills and hoping i would slow down on spending money for car parts and go fast parts...and then i run across several LS swap threads and cant stop thinking about it when I finally lose the 4.0. My tacoma has 226k miles on it and still runs like a dream, so it may be some time down the road. but im following so i know what's required.

My plan thus far would be to swap in a LY6 with a 6L80 transmission. AEM or Holley would be easy peasy in my understanding, just didnt know how to get the dash/gauges working.

a 6L80 would be a chore, that tranny is a beast and is also enormous... you would probably have to modify the tranny tunnel. But a built 4l80 would be just as good with most likely less mods. I have a tr6060 in mine so I can’t exactly comment on fitment for the autos.
