Honestly i would say its gonna be somewhere in the 15+ region. It all just depends on what engine you end up with and what transmission. If your staying manual i would source a 4l80 with a left drop transfer case and thats a start or find a price on one. Then the real kicker is gonna be if you want iron or aluminum block or if you want a 4.7-7 liter. If you go 6.2 aluminum like me expect to pay between 4500-5500 depending if you get a l9h from a silverado or a ls3. I went aluminum to help keep the front end weight down but you gain quite a bit of cost. But a 4l80 should hold up fairly well for 400 torque and if you get higher you can always build them up to hold 700+. I also used a factory ecu with a psi conversion standalone harness. But if you want to go standalone ecu get their harness so your not stuck with a stock ecu.

Where did you get the engine (out of a vehicle?) and how many miles on it.

I will ask my son, but I do know I gave him 500 bucks to buy an old farm truck. 5.3 4l60e. I assumed anyone could do the same. As I look around, apparently the motor tranny was probably worth 12-1500. My son knows a lot about trucks, although specializes in Diesel. We live in small town Colorado. He took a job in Utah and took the Tacoma 20201127_203847.jpg

The concern I have, is he intends to install 4 link and full float spooled 40 spline axle assembly lol. He says to try it, do the learning curve, and I will like it. He is doing swap and maintaining 4 wheel drive 20201027_182240.jpg Screenshot_20201106-101122_Gmail.jpg
