did some searching but only build I found kinda died off without any finished info. My question is has anyone successfully put a LS motor in a 2nd gen and was able to get the wiring and tuning down. I know it can be done, but has someone figured out the CPU issue and are there harnesses available yet?

    That'd be sweet.

My crazy hair brained idea is to swap in an Audi 5cy 20valve Turbo

Holy Shit!!! That's crazy wicked. I was planning on doing the same a year or so after I get done paying mine off. I didn't think the LS would fit under the hood.

Man I wish you hadn't said that, only cause I don't have another truck. But I'm planing on buying another when I'm done paying this taco off. Once I do, I'm seriously considering doing the swap. Only thing is do you keep the original Toyota computer to run air bags and ABS and a separate GM computer for the motor?

I won't be able to sleep now. Going to start researching this

Friend here in Vegas, who has yet to make a TW account, just dropped in a 427 LS dressed fuel inj. from BluePrint in his X-runner. Long story short, there wasn't enough room to even fit an after market a/c unit in the bay. Boxed the frame, that's about it.
Update: ie (I don't mean to lead anyone Into thinking you can just "drop" in an LS, it's taken him 6months just to get it seated properly and cut the firewall enough to not cause overheating in the cabin.)

The 4Runner in fact has less engine to hood clearance when comparing the 4Runner and Tacoma with a 1GR. (Reference the aluminum intake manifold thread.)

Lots of LSx motors in 2nd gen Miatas, a few in 1st gen. (Lots of Ford 5.0s in the 1st gen though.)

Little massaging in a couple of places but not as drastic as you might think.

I'd hope the Tacoma had more space to work with.

What dimension on the Tacoma is it that worries folks?

There are V8s in miatas and BRZ... there's tons of room in the Taco engine bay. Must be some kind of special engine.

For the OP... http://tundraracing.com/ has V8 in his regular cab 2nd gen. I looked into this, but living in California and still trying to find a good place that will do the swap with the wiring...I haven't looked further. I also saw online someone had a V8 4x4...

BTW, Clearwater Bill Tundra racing is in Florida.
