Havent had a parking brake for 3+ years and cant say ive ever said...I need a parking brake. Easiest fix probably be some wilwood elecric parking brakes....though a bit expensive.
Fuck ABS completely....delete it....all I have left of the system is the ECU I separated from the module...I only use it to keep the OEM speedo working.
I wired in some Baja Design lights into the stock dome light harness, they only work when the doors are opened, no switch to turn them on. Mostly because I to dumb to figure out how to wire them that way. I have 2 of them over the driver and passengers heads.

Crazy how you are still having these cooling issues. I’m running the stock Tacoma radiator and a Derale transmission cooler and have yet to have any over heating issues. Well there was this one incident when the hose clamp failed and the radiator hose blew off and boy did the engine heat up fast but other than that it’s been mint.

I have the Chevy mechanical fan and if I change to electric fans I’ll have a bunch more room for a big front mount radiator and new fan shroud.

I rarely see temps over 95C / 203F with how I drive it.

Like you I have a long list of shit I want addressed but just chomping off my thing

Yeah unfortunately due to my lack of fab skills I mounted the engine too far forward and high. You’re getting all that prime airflow.

fuck it. Tomorrow I’ll rip the radiator out. I’ll pay homie who did the cage to flip the fan shroud to the other side and mount the condenser on the back side.

Yeah see I think my saving Grace is my radiator is above my bed… and pulling, the spal fans pull great air out of the dead zone and push it across the low pressure area coming off the top of the cab. But I haven’t ever ran it in 110 degree heat so I don’t know how it would do, but since putting the Ron Davis in the bed I have never seen I think over like 200.. and that’s only cause my fans are set to kick on at 185 and 195 so they just cycle and keep it right there.

Well this took all of 15 minutes to take out of the truck. Turns out the fan shroud isn’t welded to the rad, it just looks like it. Just gotta have new tabs welded on for the hardware and should be done tomorrow. The fans are still fucked and I need to figure that out but the rad should be installed tomorrow. The condenser will mount underneath the rad now instead of on top. All of the hoses are long enough and the brackets should be as easy as flipping them around. If not I’ll have new ones made to tuck it closer to the rad.

I’m gonna call Steele and see if they’ll warranty them, or what the deal with the thermal management is. I should probably just put spal’s on it again. Sucks I didn’t save the old ones that I took off.

Still of the opinion you should add some holes in the bed for added airflow while you have the radiator out with some wire screen across the holes to block debris.

Harbor Freight has 6” hole saws for $34.99

Yeah I didn't want to give up bed space for a radiator. It was more of a prick to do, but dropping the engine as much as I could and pushing it back as far as I could, plus massaging the firewall a lot made it possible. Definitely want to go to electric fans so I can put a bigger radiator in.

    Well @WormSquirts

fans are now on the correct side in a puller config.

gonna call Steele tomorrow and figure out their bullshit. Should probably just go buy 2 new spal’s and forget about the fancy bullshit. But rad should be correctly set up now.

only thing left up in the air, is if my condenser will bolt up to the back side no problem. It should, only thing I’m worried about is clearance to the coolant hard lines. Worst case if it doesn’t fit, I’ll drop the truck off at the dude who fixed the rad and he’ll whip up some new mounts for me. I’m trying not to have to evacuate the AC system.

I was out flying around all day so didn’t get a chance to test fit, but will tomorrow. Need to go get some new stainless hardware to replace some black oxide bolts that are rusted to fuck already.

Use lots of anti seize on the threads of any stainless hardware.

hey man really sorry to hear you are having so much trouble. i have spent a bunch of money at making my a/c work. i can tell you that normal operating temps are high on ls motors like 200-210. the normal set up has two fans settings hi/low but my factory pcm doesn't tell the fan to come on tell 200. i know you are in az and its hot but just saying these moters like to run hot. they are also reverse flow from a sbc which makes them a motherfucker to burp. if you have any air in your system they will overheat. those shrouded fans should pull plenty if they are on. just food for thought. good luck

Even with stainless on stainless? Maybe I’ll just use zinc coated or something then.
IMO Chevy motors run too hot. 200 is too hot. I’d rather be at 175 or 180. Gives you a lot more headroom when things get exciting. I can’t see any downside to running the motor at that temp, but I can see some downsides of 200+.

you’re right tho, burping it is a bitch, especially with the rad in the back and the “u” shape my cooling system makes doesn’t make it any easier. But I haven’t run the motor so hopefully it’s as simple as filling the rad and we’re good lol.

Especially stainless on stainless. The metal is soft and galls up. Basically completely locks itself, can't tighten or loosen anymore and has to be cut off. Huge pita. I hate stainless hardware

It's usually fine if you use anti seize, but then you're just running weaker bolts and have to goop them up regardless haha
