Making headway! This bumper looks sweet so far.

Im hoping when I have the truck back that I'm able to pull the motor straight up and out and leave the transmission in place.

Bumper all wrapped up. This thing is so cool. I haven't seen a single bumper for a 2nd gen that looks as cool as this one imo.

    Picked her up today!

Going to take care of some things, like the transmission harness, rear fuse box, all the small stuff I can accomplish here at the house.

once it’s done, I’ll tow it over to my friends shop to pull the motor and reseal it. Hoping it’s not gonna be too bad. I’m so excited to drive this thing for real!

I can measure when I go to take it out, but I have tons of room to get the bell housing bolts out.

Added to the laundry list of items, is a new Winters/Art-Carr shifter. The lokar floor mounted shifter I have sucks.

Here's the laundry list, for anyone curious:
    • Install new hood hinges and hood
    • Install hood scoop
    • Install washer tank, and lines
    • Add turn signal pigtail
    • Depin all the unused wires from ecu and remove
    • Install rear disc brake conversion
    • Replace rear main seal and cover
    • Rear oil barbell install
    • Wire up all Baja designs lights
    • Install rear mounted fuse box
    • Secure coolant hoses and wiring to the rear
    • Install new transmission harness
    • Update Holley ecu
    • Setup the fan outputs for the radiator and transmission
    • Get ac lines made
    • Get power steering lines made
    • Seam seal any open holes in the body
    • Undercoat the fenders
    • Steel it the inner fender
    • Install new tailgate handle and camera
    • Install rear Baja designs lights
    • Jump clutch switch wires
    • Fix brake switch
    • Create transfer-case shifter somehow
    • Install new Winters shifter

There's probably stuff im forgetting, but yeah, this is what I think all needs to be done before I can thrash on the truck and enjoy it.

Started the evening off with installing the new hood hinges, sport hood, and Baja designs squadron pro ditch lights. Really pulls this truck together.IMG_5654.jpg
After that, I pulled out the pre-2009 transmission harness. While I was at it, I also removed the Holley harness, and the factory 4.0L engine harness. I turned this giant rats nest of wires:IMG_5658.jpgInto this:IMG_5659.jpgI had that giant bundle of wires all for 4 conductors. Now it’s all meshed and looks great.

    @hayrider2.0 here you go:
    IMG_5661.jpg

And here’s where I left off:
    IMG_5666.jpg

Still need to organize the rest of the Holley wires, probably going to use some Tesa tape, can’t think of a better time efficient solution. Meshing it isn’t a possibility, unless it’s some split look but that stuff is kinda garbage. We’ll see what I go with.

I found the correct Holley software I need, and I’m able to add the 4L75E to the handheld from my laptop. Waiting on a USB type A to USB mini to get here. Not sure how I don’t have one of those. Really hoping that works. If it does, I might just go jump this thing, even with a leaking rear main.

    @Dm93 helpppppp

after depinning all the unused wires, my fuel pump won’t kick on anymore. I’m not sure why. There also a hum coming from my engine bay fuse box now, kinda sounds like a 172 stall horn. Could that be related? My only guess is I got rid of some common ground. Any ideas?

One thing I did notice is that wire I tapped into next to the headlight for the fuel pump resistor, to give the fuel pump power all the time from the Holley, is the same color as a few of the bundles I see in the rats nest I pulled out.

This brown/red relay is the one buzzing, looks like it’s the fuel pump relay. Any reason why it’s buzzing now? Did it simply fail? Or could it be a grounding issue? How do I resolve it?

    Hey @Pittsy,
The truck is coming along great, how do you like having those Squadron Pros on the a-pillar angled out as much as they are? Do you feel like this helps with cornering while off-roading?
    Best,

They’re solid, a lot of the trails I’ve taken the truck to have a ton of blind turns so it helps a lot with visibility.

Um, it just started working. Lol.

    pulled the noisy relay out.

got the Holley updated to V6 from v4, got the correct trans selected. Need to get stuff buttoned up before I start to drive this thing, but not a whole lot left.

First of all, here are these:

    https://youtube.com/shorts/XvaWcKynOgE?feature=share

    https://youtube.com/shorts/URaOit_VF4Q?feature=share

    Got a lot done today.

I rewired the rear fan setup. I threw it all together with lose relays to get it working, but in my dyslexia, I used the IAC and AC kick off wires instead of fan 1 and fan 2 from the Holley, which is why they just ran constantly. Fixed all of those and meshed the wiring, made it super clean. Added a relay and fuse box, plus a bus bar for the bed electronics. I can also jumpstart the battery from the back now which is nice.
    IMG_5689.jpg
I forgot to cut the zip ties, but I’ll do it tomorrow lol.

I also took the bed cage out, cut off the old jack plate mount, and added some spacers for the new one that 454 welded onto the side since the radiator blocks the old mounting point.
    IMG_5680.jpg
    IMG_5691.jpg
It looks so nice back there now.
Here’s a shot of the truck without stuff in the bed, kinda neat, but I like the look of the jack and the tires:

    IMG_5854.jpg

I also installed the new transmission harness, and got the new Holley software installed, and guess what! The transmission finally shifts correctly all the way up to 4th gear!!! No transmission issues! I’m super stoked to find that out. It shifts beautifully and it finally doesn’t start to overheat after driving around for a while. One thing that was interesting is the old harness never clicked into the transmission, but the new one has a really positively confirmed click for the connector. I’m so happy everything worked out. Glad I caught that issue. The LS6 lights up the 35” tires with ease
    :burnrubber:

I painted the inner fenders with steel-it:

    IMG_5681.jpg

I’m waiting on some 3M rubberized undercoating to get here to paint the insides of the fiberglass fenders.

I didn’t get to mount up the radiator hoses like I wanted to, but I took a look at it and it’s looking like a pretty difficult thing to do without going hard line, so maybe I’ll get that done. Just have a few things left on my list to get done before I try and tackle the rear main seal.

    Today was a good day.
