LS6 Swap 2nd Gen Build + New Tundra

I don’t know that it’ll be easy. Losing 3/4 is a typical 4l60 thing. Usually from getting hot, but it never got above 180. I’ll reach out to monster and see what they can do for me. I’ll probably go turbo 400 since it’s the most similar in footprint.

Valve body problem? Solenoids not allowing the change? Throwing darts into the air.

 

Was thinking this too. If no other symptoms or noises, felt vibes, etc.. really anything that would indicate a mechanical failure.. I'm wondering if a solenoid is stuck.. or came apart in the valve body.

 

We don't have all of the details, but it sounds like a similar problem that I helped a mate with on his Infinity. Wouldn't change out of 2nd. Different car, yes. The electronics on the valve body failed.

 

You said Monster Transmission?
Look at Eric the Car Guy. He has had the worst luck with them. And overall bad feed back from Monster Transmission. Especially with 700R4/4L60E stuff.
Yea a TH400 is easy peasy to work on and rebuild also.

 

I don’t even know where to begin testing this.

I guess dropping the pan would be my first step.

yeah I knew monster was a less than ideal company to deal with but I didn’t buy it directly from them. Definitely wouldn’t given the option.

 

Any ability to hook up a high end scan tool to see the transmission functions?

 

It’s a Holley ECU, so no, but it tells me everything. What are you looking for?

 

A way to test the solenoids and check for line pressure changes.

 

I’m able to view line pressure on the Holley.

 

Pulling the trans tomorrow. Going to try and leave the engine in the truck. I don’t see why I can’t.

this thread is gonna turn into why I hate this truck and why I’m in so much pain dealing with it.

 

Just remember Saturday and how fun it was. Just some more gremlins on a big project.

 

This is a pretty big gremlin. I know what you’re saying though.

super high highs, super low lows with this thing.

 

You'll overcome, and it will all be worth it. Any large undertaking such as this, is going to have plenty of hurdles. You will persevere though.
