Been loosely following along during this a/c project as I am going to be start working on mine sooner than later, but is it safe to assume this same setup would work on a non-terminator kit (running factory ecu here)? I need to go back and actually read what you did and then see what the BP engine harness says about integrating a/c with their engine controller kit...

Yeah it absolutely could, you just need to figure out how you’re going to shutdown the AC compressor. The Holley comes with an output wire for this. It uses Throttle position and engine coolant temperature to figure out if should enable or disable the magnetic clutch.

in my case, since all my factory wiring was gone, I soldered some wires to my AC amplifier. One of them is a ground trigger, which I wired to a relay to turn on power to the relay controlled by the Holley(ac shutdown) run to the magnetic clutch.

I also spoofed some signals that the ac amplifier is expecting to receive from the engine. Since the Holley is controlling the ac shutdown for both throttle position and coolant temp, it doesn’t matter that these spoofed signals are all fixed. If your ecu isn’t able to control ac shutdown, these signals are going to need to be legit. I’m sure code could be made to convert the rpm and ECT signal from the gm ecu to the same waveform the Toyota ac ecu is expecting, but you’d still need to figure out the compressor lock signal, something that I’m not sure Gm compressors come equipped with, mine isn’t.

as far as the Toyota ac amplifier knows, it’s idling at 850 rpm, engine temp is 180 degrees, the compressor isn’t seized, and the ECM is telling it that it’s okay to turn on the AC.

also, the stock Toyota system still has the OEM pressure switch, and OEM thermistors in place to determine whether or not the compressor needs to be cycled on or off.

For the terminator application, I think this is a perfect solution. I highly recommend the terminator. It’s awesome.

    Congrats:thumbsup:

Just don't ask me to diagnose it when it breaks:anonymous:

Shhhh no we’re not gonna talk about that. This truck has done too much breaking.

That's why I try not to get involved too much in "modified" vehicles and vehicle builds, too many variables and unknowns for me and some of them it seems like I end up wiring the whole thing for them.

I’ll be the first to admit that that was me 100% on this project. But I really really do appreciate it. Hopefully some others that want to do this in the future can benefit. I might be wrong but this is probably the most well documented LS swap. Someone could read this and know exactly what to do. Everything wiring wise is laid out here.

@Dm93 I do have one more question. I still have working ABS on my truck, but I'm going to need to rebreed the system, but I want to do an ABS bleed. Im not sure that I'll be able to command the ABS pump to turn on using OBD or Techstream. Im not even sure I can connect anymore, I haven't tried. Is there a way to manually cycle it on and do this? Im putting a tundra booster and MC in.

If it's still connected electrically you should be able to talk to it but you really shouldn't need to do the abs bleed just changing a master cylinder.

There are pins you can jump to activate it. I swear it has been posted on this forum before.

If the ABS is still working, you could alway do the simple method of driving and braking hard to activate the system. Do it a few times and voilà. Then bleed.

Big boy 4L80 Billet converter from Circle D is back. They refurbed and converted it for $500 for me. Replaced all of the wear items too. Now just waiting on my transmission and tcase to come back from Maximum Offroad. They said they’d start building it next week is what it sounds like. They got everything torn apart today from my tcase.

Upgrading to a tundra booster and MC. Can’t get my OEM one out because of the JD fenders. Ugh.

I was told my trans should be done Friday or Monday, but still gonna need a new crossmember made and might need my driveshafts adjusted.
