You're running headsets, too, right? As you likely know, lotta race trucks run their intakes into the cabs. Ton of intake noise, but you've kept your topend HP and aren't risking sucking dust and water into the LS at the front of the motor.

Otherwise, Harry of JD Fab is the man when it comes to ideas for packaging UMPs into tight spaces, so it might be worth reaching out to him, and I would certainly be interested to hear what @WormSquirts has to say about filtration running hard in his neck of the (wet) woods.

Donaldson filters/housings are great, too, and a cheaper alternative. I'm in the process of converting a Donaldson tractor intake into my Tacoma but my HP demands are slightly less than yours! Lol

100% percent a snorkel helps with dust out here in AZ and I'll argue this to my grave. I've put my truck into limp mode a couple times years ago running trails here. More specifically trails with silt. Factory filter location regardless of filter (went through every bolt-on intake system and filter they had at the time) with no better results. Granted.. truck is modified with liners removed, etc. But not until I switched to a snorkel did I finally see improvements. Not only is it cleaner air since it's not picking up right where the tire is throwing dust/silt.. but it's drawing in cooler as well as clearly seen on my OBDII reader. I don't want to hear anything about restrictions either because between MAF readings and the fact I've been running it for 7+ years with a highly modified supercharger on the truck, in the dust and Az heat, with zero issues, says otherwise. Now if it's just looks that are a negative to you.. well.. I get it, but they do work.

yep I’ll have headsets in the truck. All the shit that I have packaged in the front end of my truck gives me like 0 room. Between oil accumulators, oil coolers, power steering coolers, fuel regulators, ac compressor, alternator, ac lines, strut tower engine crossover etc etc.

before I blew up the v6 I actually had a cowl intake/snorkel. Loved the way it sounded. I’d do this again but I need some sort of pass through filter before it goes into the cab. But yeah the external snorkels is just a look thing for me. I’m sure they’re 100% empirically better, I just don’t like the look.

You would definitely know better than I would on the Ls side.. I figured there had to be something like that (the cowl intake).. or just something not visible. But it's more of a filter availability thing is what your saying?

I mean a filter is a filter, it just needs a 4” ID.

you can flip LS intakes around to free up room up front and shoot the intake straight into the cab super easy! Don't need to know how to fabricate to holesaw through the firewall!

lmfao this is true, but I don’t want to do that. The hvac box would be right in the way.

not after you hole saw through the hvac box!
but yea 100% get it. I had the same conundrum on my last LS swap and had no room to fit anything but a cone filter.
Ended up selling the truck before I had any issues but felt bad when I was driving in dust.
If I kept it longer I would have tried to fit some separator like UMP thing somewhere.

Everything is soft mocked up in here, everything is hard mounted. Next up is working on the actual console itself and the face plate!

I have blown out lbs of dust from my Donaldson filter, and the intake tube has always been clean! No maf problems.
I have the Volant boxed filter with the air scoop, and left the wheel well port open but have a rubber cap that I can throw on if stuff gets wet.

Looking at their website, I can't find stand alone fan motors like used in the video, but this is a neat idea! I also don’t know if these would work on the spal's
