And now they’re having a sale on new intercoms for less than what I paid for a used one.

    :annoyed:

Oh yeah, @Torspd those steele fans kick ass. The soft start is so cool. I still wanna get an amp clamp and look at what it’s drawing but so far everything is super good.

Did you plug the headsets directly into the unit, or into the console jacks? It sounds like they are wired wrong

Into the console jacks. I did continuity tests on all the jacks pin to pin relative to the indexing groove on the connector.

I’ll pull the intercom out and try going direct and see how it is

I just get the feeling the plugs or the headsets are mono and the other is stereo.

Yeah would make sense. There's just something weird going on if none of them work.

Well.... no. Not exactly. Depends on if there is a standard/protocol and who is following what standard for what use. As an example where I work there are 5 pin connectors for headsets, we also have the same 5 pin connector (XLR) but it's used for digital communication in electronically controlled devices. You can physically plug the headset into the digital communication line but the headset isn't going to work. Probably not the case for you (and may be pedantic of me) but just because one thing will plug into another doesn't mean they will, or meant to, work together.

As somebody mentioned you might have a situation where you can send separate signals to each ear but for what ever reason, a switch in the wrong position, a bad connection, etc.

Pulling the intercom and plugging directly in is a good idea. For shits & giggles try each headset separately.

Then, of course, read the manual. Check with the previous owner to see if he did any modifications.

I always try to eliminate issues one by one. The easiest issue to eliminate first will be the console jacks, by plugging it in direct to the unit. If it works, great, you know the console jacks are the issue. If not, then it's likely the unit itself, as I doubt all of your headsets would have the same issue. I doubt it's even broken, if anything there's probably a setting that needs to be changed or something

the manual sucks dick and is useless. Has no relevant info for me. I don’t even know if there are settings to be changed, but that’s my inclination too.
