I just got a hanneman that uses the factory hinges (with a little clearancing) for $275 out the door. I like how plain it is. Just a regular hood scoop for now.

Not bad for $275. Pretty thin, had to grind out one hinge hole, make new hood height setting apparatus with 9/16 bolts and hood pin mounts otherwise the pins would be right on the front of the hood if I used the core support. Bought resin to reinforce the front and make it possible to stick on weatherstripping in front since they hood is bare fiber underneath. Further on I’ll glass in a hood hook to use the stock hood latch for security.

Nothings bolted together right now due to projects where I have to remove the glass a lot.

Not in terms of travel, my bad. Overall since Toyota fixed the lbj issue for 2nd gens - will a stock spindle front kit ever get out performed by a sua? A small consideration for 1st gen race kits is eliminating the lower ball joint (why I bought one, not for “racing” at Barstow main or thinking I’d need more travel) so I’m wondering if you or any other guys look at race kits as a necessary upgrade before going balls deep and caging / linking / no f’s given or full shop build since you can even get a fabricated 4x4 spindle now with any kit.

No probably not. I think I’m getting close to 15” of travel out of my front kit with the stock spindle and stock shock tower so even if you stretch some of the claimed travel numbers of some sua kits to 20” it’s still a good pair. So yeah unless you’re going links you get 24”+ in the rear, an 8” shock up front setup is more than capable.

Most guys just run 1.5-1.25 spacers to get close to their front track width and you can easily trim fiberglass before it’s painted if you want to get more room to stuff 35-37’s. FYI legit prerunning / race trucks have glass that goes way out past their rear wheels. Stuffing tires is way easier that way. So you’d be going +2 on all for corners? Wheel spacers and 12.5” tires would make that work if you want a similar factory look. Your bed will never be as rigid until you add some sort of metal cage to reinforce it, but yes some have glass bedsides and camper shells. I just wouldn’t jump your truck or hit big stuff fast with it.

Might have a buyer for my +2 kit in the near future. Any 2nd gen +3.5 kits floating around for sale?
