When the topic came up in the BS thread a couple guys popped in and said they had seen issues with cantilever set ups. They didn't mention what they were installed on or how they were used, however one of them specifically said that the simmons kit looked like it was going to have problems.... and seems it's turned out to be an accurate statement.

Actually I may be looking for 12” 2.5 triples now for the dmz sua with the shock hoop Instead of the bed cage (king, fox, locked, ads) preferably king.BDEBEFAB-11B9-472B-8085-3B5579B7D1DA.jpg

If there's a problem with this kit I'd inspect it and then look at whether the issues generalize to all cantilever setups. It sounded like you were saying there's no way to run one and not have issues which falls into the process of analysis and development to make a useable system. People making them know how to do it that have made the finish lines in grueling competition.

That's why I qualified it with "word on the street". I don't have any experience with them and was basing it purely off other people's word...which are strangers on the internet and their authority could range from gospel to worthless. But it's worth keeping in one's mind if they are looking to purchase an unproven custom bolt in shock set up that costs several thousand dollars.

Though I do find it funny that the guy said that kit would have problems, and not a couple weeks after that comment it gets mentioned about how a couple of the kits had problems. :D

I don't. It's my buddies truck, and he's way too forgiving to share photos of product failure

You should go short body 14’s and move the upper shock mounts up a little higher. 12’s and a dmz kit would be a waste.

I’m about to do a setup just like that. sua with short body 14’ triples with bypass layout 2

This is a setup we just finished on @SilverSurfer using 2.5 x 12’s but he’s soa, I would of went 14’s if he was running a leaf pack capable of more travel like the dmz.

The street someone is spending time on determines the accuracy of the word. Learning from home builds on Race Dezert or Dezert Rangers that are tuned to work right and reading about historical evolution of parts that have made it through eras of desert racing really helps sort through the garbage that flows in and around the web. First hand experience is key too - every manufacturer has to play the numbers game at some point, but in the case of that kit it set my bs alarm off quickly when they quoted 19-20" of travel and I'm getting less than 17 legitimate inches using the same springs and knowing how bad they'd be going into negative arch and separating to get those numbers if they even were accurate which is unverified on their part until they show it cycled.

New company that hasn't provided video of the product performing + extremely inflated travel numbers made their kit "eh" in my mind, but it's a cool concept. I learned the hard way not to be a guinea pig for promising new suspension products and there's definitely a risk in being the first few using stuff on our trucks.

I'd like to see someone using that rear kit to go fast through some sand dunes or some dirt. So far havent really seen anybody really "using" it.

As long as the motion ratio works on the bell cranks and the frame connectors position them right you could just rebuild them if they're failing at the frame seam.

Make sure uniballs are tight - have him send you some videos of them with a bolt through them and shafts are good. Pics don't look horrible. See if he'll do $850 shipped first. You'd get triples for not much more.

I thought about 14s but Tim said he only wants 12s... it works with his hoop the best apparently. I just need 2.5x12 double or triple tube
