Short commute, but honestly I doubt it will be much worse than 35’s of the same width and 4.88s that I have now. We have transmissions that seem to want to shift to 5th as soon as mechanically possible so it’s the same shit- push the pedal to makey go go.

Love them and no I don’t daily drive it. But the tires have worked amazing in every terrain I’ve thrown em at. Only complaint I’ve heard from people is they don’t last long. But then I’ve also heard of full-size trucks getting 40k out of them with proper rotations and tire pressure. Either way my truck is primarily an off road use truck (only drove 3k miles last year) so longevity doesn’t really matter to me.

I was running 4.56 when I jumped to the 37’s and power wasn’t bad. Granted I have a supercharger. Biggest complaint with the 37” is braking. That actually was very noticeable. But my recent switch to 5.29 is where it’s at

That’s my biggest concern and reason for jumping to 17” wheels. Hoping to fit at the minimum some larger 4Runner brakes.

Yep I did that pretty quickly after making the jump. That said even after a good brake bleed the pedal will feel softer with the 4Runner brakes. There’s a thread on here somewhere that talks about it and it’s a common problem with that swap. Basically the Tacoma master cylinder doesn’t push enough fluid for the 4Runner calipers larger pistons. If your truck has a vacuum booster then you can swap a tundra master cylinder and booster for about $500, but if you are like me with the electronic brake booster you’re screwed.

I did the 4Runner brake swap and while I do have a bit of a soft pedal, it’s still way better performance over stock. On 34s and in the rain my truck could hardly stop going downhill, there was a few times where it didn’t stop at all and I had to use the e brake. I couldn’t imagine the braking with 35s or bigger. I also added ss brake lines which helped with the mushy pedal some.

Did the same on just 33’s and didn’t notice a huge gain until I did the tundra brake master cylinder. That made the biggest difference.

I mean the difference it makes is relative and different for every person. I'm surrounded by hills so that might also effect things. The Tundra mc swap is a big job from what I've read so unless the oem one doesn't cut it for me anymore I'm content where I'm at.

Unless you have the master with abs built in it’s really not hard at all. I paid like 250 for a junkyard master and booster and then made an extension for the pedal rod. Other than that you just have to make two jumper lines since the tundra master ports are on the opposite side and are 12mm instead of 10.

I've been DDing Patagonias for a couple years, no complaints. The Wrangler Duratrac is a better tire, but it's almost 2x the cost, and it's not anywhere near 2x better.

that’s good to hear. I looked at the Patagonias for 35’s but discount tire gave a good deal on cooper mtps I couldn’t pass up.

I saw something on YouTube that said the Patagonia’s need to be inflated enough to ride on that center tread pattern of the tire because it’s a crowned tire? Not sure, but they were saying not to do a traditional chalk test on these and try to cover the whole width when driving on the highway.

    Nice.

I run mine about 45PSI on pavement, but the sidewalls are super stiff, so I can air down to 12 or so for rocks and 8 for snow.

Yeah I came from running duratracs the last 10 years. I’d say they are very comparable tires. Don’t know that I’d say one is better than the other but they are both great tires.

Weird, I’m running 27psi on the street and seem to get even wear. But then yeah drop down to 15 or so in the dirt

I keep my street driving around 35 PSI and have noticed that the Pategonias ride in the center, as @Dayman Karate mentioned. Never really looked into it more. Just an observation. I run roughly 18 PSI in the dirt depending on what we're doing.
