You still leave the crumple zone and the weak 1/8” plate and dinky bolts to hold your bumper on.

So with the crumple zone. You can’t just fit square tube in there. And if your gonna chop that. Your cutting enough to near just tube the front.
We just went through all that on my truck.

Yup, I have 1/2 bolts instead of the oe stock studs, 3 bolts running across the new crossmember, and another 2 bolting up towards the body mount. Plated the crumple zone in with plate on the inside/outside of the frame, and the oe mount spots are all solidly plated and reinforced on mine. All done with basic plate from the hardware store. Needless to say my bumper is finally the weakpoint as its now denting/bending instead of the frame.

Already sold. I wonder what they went for. I was looking for a set a few months ago and people wanted crazy money for them. Polishing and new 12pt hardware probably put them around $500 a wheel.

Yes, you can absolutely fit square tube in between the frame horns. Many people have done it. Myself included.

I just incorporated a .188 wall 1.5” tube in the bumper in the same area. It’s not welded but it definitely does same thing.
