Fittings showed up today. Orb to 3/8 for the return to engine and the 10an female to two 6an male with a straight pushlock and a 90.
Also hung out with my overlander buddy @cgnsa

These marlin lca braces are good points for jackstands.

What made this kit nice was the included lateral locks.


Clearance is good. I was initially concerned about it but there plenty of room.

 

Did it come with the lateral stops, or did you have to order those separately?

 

It came with them.

 

Very nice then. I remember that when I originally purchased my rear sway bar, I had to purchase a set of those from Whiteline.

Nice PreRunner. Thinking about installing a TrueTrac in my PreRunner for some light overlanding and remote camping. Do you think it's a good option for me. Don't want to spend the money for a selectable locker

 

Absolutely.

 

It's definitely better having both tires spin than just one. Haven't done any rallying or off roading but you can tell the difference on the street.

 

Not so much modding but saving other vehicles in this case my uncle's truck. Truck left him stranded at a store and he towed it home. He got many opinions on what the issue was none of which were correct and luckily he didn't blindly buy parts before I looked at the truck.

One of the fixes my 'mechanic' uncle, different uncle, did to the heater core. Yes this truck is a real shit box. I must state that I had no part in this bypass. I only smh whenever I see it. Anyway the issue with this truck was that it doesn't start from what I was told. My uncle was told it was either the battery or the alternator. When I tested the truck with the battery still in the truck it has power when you turn the key. However when you go to crank all power dies and does not crank at all. So that tells me it's something with the starter. So I go testing everything.

relay looked like crap but still worked. So I narrowed it down to the starter and ordered one.
A Little time passes as I insisted on getting a OEM starter and it got delivered.


So my spare tools from my trailer came in clutch as it has both sae and metric since I mostly just have metric at my house.

Found this massive oil leak that Im guessing it's the front cover area. Also of course there's a puddle where I need to be to take the starter off. At least it's not cold otherwise I would not be doing this. Lol

so the cover is basically just coming apart. I rewrapped it.

So roadkill kicked it (when doesn't it) and after messing with the new one I compared it to the old one and it's the wrong one even though I entered the correct engine specs on Amazon.

So in the end I got a duralast starter (I am not a fan of duralast) and it was more expensive that the AC Delco but it was the right one so on it goes. Old starter was also tested and was deemed bad. New starter installed and now runs and drives.
Snapon and harbor freight yo.
Conclusion is to get a Tacoma or a 4runner.

 

Got the dry filter and a sock to go over it when I go rallying or off roading again.

 

Is there an issue with the heater core, that re-attaching the heater hoses would cause it to leak in the cab?

 

Racer note, panty hose works in a pinch as well. Readily available, in the ladies department.

 

not sure. happened long ago, my guess is that it leaks. I still don't know why you wouldn't fix it vs cutting the hoses. Maybe it's an old mechanic thing(?)
