im at 113k miles (just broken in, i know) but i was liking the feature of it keeping the cylinders and cylinder heads, etc, lubricated for dry starts.

No need, just keep up regular oil changes.

I use it to make up that half quart during oil changes.

I have seen the effects of using the lucas in big rigs, half a million miles with very little wear on the mains.

Maybe would make sense if our engines had issues. But our engines are proven to go a long time with no issues. we’ll only the head gasket issues on early models. Besides that, flawless engine

no argument there. just wondering if i can be of anymore assistance with helping wear later on at a cheap cost each oil change interval!

The problem with that stabilizer stuff is that it doesn't have the additive package your normal oil does, so swapping out a 1/2 quart waters the additive package down. The only thing it does is increase the cold viscosity of the oil. You are better off just using 10w-30 instead of 5w-30, you get the same viscosity increase but the oils additive package remains the same. Additive packages are very important in modern engines you shouldn't water it down.

I have used it with good results in transmissions, transfer cases, and differentials in older vehicles. Never thought about using it in an engine until my step daughter drove her Corolla several hundred miles with the oil 3 quarts low and the oil light flickering (she ain't the brightest). That engine had massive tick going on. I drained the 10w-30 and put in 3 quarts of 20w-50 and a full quart of Lucas. After about 5 seconds that engine was quiet...freaky quiet...purred like a kitten. That was 4 months ago. Still running good but definitely on borrowed time. As others have said, as long as you're not neglecting oil changes you will be just fine without Lucas. If you're trying to eke a few more miles out of an engine you might need it.

The oil control rings maybe stuck. You can try Amsoil power foam and fill the cylinders. Berrymans B12 in the fuel may unstick those rings. Check the PCV as well.

dont put the lucas shit in your truck (or any "high mileage oil" for that matter).... keep doing regular 5k mile oil chances with standard non high mileage 5w-30 of your choice (conventional, syn blend, full syn) and a fresh filter, the engine will last for 300k EASY by sticking with that

If you need to run oil stabilizer, you already have a problem. And stabilizer isn’t going to fix it.

I’d save your money and apply the savings to other maintenance cost.

And what is your before and after method to measure 'how it goes'?

If you don't have one, you're just guessing.

Installing an accumulator would do more for cold starts than the additives imho

I personally do cheap 3-5k mi OCI with high quality synthetic oil and my metal looked new, discolored, not stained, not varnished, and clean enough to eat off of when I pulled the valve covers at 150k

but you do what you want

Do you need it, probably not. Will it hurt anything, probably not. Your choice, make your own decision.
As you can see, there won't be any consensus here!
