so my uncle being nice washed my truck and changed my oil with a good synthetic oil.But for some reason added a Lucas oil stabilizer in.Should I be worried about running this in my motor for at least 3k miles? Or should I just drain that blend out and add a plain or synthetic?

Was it burning oil? What are the compression numbers for each cylinder? Most of the time oil additives are a waste of money because modern oils, especially synthetic, are very good. They may help in a last ditch effort to keep a worn out engine running a little longer.

It might burn the smallest amount of oil.I'm not exactly sure compression numbers. But it's a clean 1 owner 3.4 with 170k on it.Ive been running it for about 2 weeks. But the more I think about it makes me wanna just change it.Will it fuck my motor up if I run it a few k? I've never even bought that stuff before.Nor know much about it.So made me a bit uncomfortable. So would like some feedback. Thanks!

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
I run 1qt of Lucas oil stabilizer and the rest Mobil1

Have been doing so for around 230,000 miles. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Why would there be anything to worry about???

I use it religiously especially in gear boxes. I was always a sucker for the little gear thingy on the auto parts sales counter showing how it makes your oil cling.

I’m torn on this, I have a slightly noisy lifter and was thinking this stuff might help but I haven’t looked into the synthetic compatibility, I know it’s fine for conventional...

    You must resist temptation.
I'd be surprised if compatability with synthetic is an issue. But compatability with MY engine's oil? Nope, not compatible :)

I know I should, the engineers know what they need to put in the blend but that little ity bity tick is driving me nuts. Might try a thicker synthetic...

I hear ya, isn't zinc the big cleaning agent in the oil formulated for diesel engines? Maybe try some Rotella 5w-40, the blue bottle stuff. That's very good oil.
Or check what the folks at bobistheoilguy.com have to say. Best oil/grease site there is

oh man - it's gonna blow up! Take it out NOW!

J/k - it's fine. It's like adding gear oil to your engine. Helps keep oil in the higher part of your motor longer. Doesn't hurt anything. Could be snake oil. Usually they have all that stuff at the front counter of parts stores to trick people into thinking they need that stuff in their engine.

    Three points:
    1. Toyota does not put that stuff it in the new car
    2. Toyota does not list this stuff as a part of preventive maintenance
    3. The engine oil bottle (synthetic or conventional) does not have any writing saying you need to mix it with the oil

so... why bother in the first place ? Any of these magic oil additives are at the best scenario just waste of money, at worse harming the engine preventing from proper lubrication or destroying rubber seals. Just my opinion.

Reminds of those things they used to sell where you put a magnet thing around your fuel line . They only sell them because it's proven that people blindly buy them. lol

I didn't add it.My uncle did out of being kind.So i wondered whether I should drain it and put just oil in it.Or if it'll be fine for an oil change.

No worries it’s not going to HURT anything this additive helps the oil cling to lubracated parts for extra protection
LUCAS OILS are one of the best on the market, you’ll be fine till next oil change. Do your research till then and decide if you want to run an oil additive.
