So far I am in it for the following, price included shipping, tax etc:
    1. clamshell with acuator - $175
    2. qty 2, new cardone select cvs from Rockauto - $85
    3. qty 2, new OEM grease caps - $30
    4. 3 mounting arms for clamshell - free
    5. 4x4 hub and bearing assemblies - $200
    6. ADD switch - have one in the toolbox
    7. Synthetic gear oil - several quarts in garage
    8. 1" wheel spacers frt and rear - $125, just for the hell of it

    Stuff I still need
    1. 4x4 trans, est $750
    2. FJ auto xfer case from RST w/ twin stick - $1000
    3. Custom drive shafts - $300
    4. OEM hardware, seals, bolts - $175
    5. new output flange for front diff - $80
    6. ADD harness - not sure if I'm going to buy it or make it myself
    7. 4x4 crossmember - havent priced one yet. i have the tools to cut it up and weld back up

Looks like I'll be just north of $3K. It will go up a bit when I replace the cardone cv's with BUILT OEM yota. Not sure about my hub assemblies either, but if they are bad, will buy the ones done by TW member.

    Did I miss anything?

Are you calling a clamshell the front diff? Will stock driveshafts not work with the fj tcase or are you gonna put in a one piece.

yes, clamshell = front diff and stock front and rear driveshafts from stock 4x4 will not work with FJ case from what I've read from the threads of those who have tackled and completed this conversion.

1" spacers went on this morning. Has nothing to do with this project other than allowing larger meats in the future.

Tilt head 90* to the left. I tried to adjust... Sorry y"all.

Ordered all my hardware tonight from Toyota Parts Superstore based on google search for OEM toyota parts. I did quite a bit of searching and found this vendor to be the cheapest for the oem bolts and hardware I needed. My order confirmation came from suntoyota.com. Looks like they are located in Florida. Even with shipping, they are less than purchasing locally. Pics will follow when the goods arrive.

I still think about that from time to time, but I really like this truck. Ya, I'm taking the path of most resistance, but the end result will be worth it.

Subbed, I have the FJ transfer, front diff, front driveshaft, ADD harness, custom cross bracing. I need the transmission, a lot of hardware, CV's, hubs, and the brackets for the front diff.

Look forward to see the pictures of everything going in. My plans are to have mine all done by this winter.

Looks like everybody is doing this, thinking on doing it too instead of unbuilding and selling my truck to buy a 4x4. Looking forward on finished product :)
