By the looks of your truck, I cannot fathom pulling all that off and starting over with a stock rig. If you need/want 4x, do it to that truck. The bugs have been worked out, thanks to wyatt and vancity4x.

I have a x-fer case on the way... 28K miles from 07 cruiser donor. I feel pretty comfortable doing the twin stick mod on my own from the info that has been posted on these forums. I will buy something from RST no matter what just to support their ongoing operations due to their contributions to this cause. Lots of pics to come.

Yup, the cost has been gradual and therefore manageable. The satisfaction factor is immeasurable when you pull it off!... Although I do expect some heartache along the way that will question my decision to convert. Did that sound religious?

Glad to see yet another doing this swap. It's not for the faint of heart but in the big picture of things it is simple.

Good luck and contact me at RST if you have any questions. ;)

Small bugs but bugs none the less.

The cross member issue is one. The frame between the 4wd and prerunner versions are not the same. they LOOK the same but are inches apart. Thus causing driveshaft issues, cross member issues, etc.

Then there is the transfercase concern. Unless you want to change most of your computers in your truck, you can't use the Tacoma T case. ( Don't know why anyone would want to anyway since it's such a big piece of junk), so you need to use the manual shifting FJ Case. To do this you'll need to have something to activate your new front ADD. We came up with a switch for this solution. Wires directly up the the ADD with a harness that plugs in. All you have to do is wire in the power and a ground and your good to go.

Here is a link to the first one done. Rays 2wd to 4wd conversion

Rays truck is now going through another transformation. Here is a link to that. Rays Dual three link soild axle swap

First question... I've seen some posts about a seal on the inner side of the hub.. After I punch out the blank and replace the prerunner hub assemblies with the 4x version, is there an additional seal or large o-ring that needs to be set?

2nd question: I couldn't find the add wiring kit on RST. I'm pretty sure I can rig it up on my own, but I doubt it would be as clean as what you've assembled. I think I want yours. Send me the details.
    Thanks again.

Since I wont have my xfer case and new tranny for a week, I will be running the truck with the front diff completely in, minus everything else for at least a week. This is my DD.

Had a close look at the new CVs I bought from rockauto. New seals are already in place.

This is probably a longshot but do you think you could do a list or spreadsheet of all the parts needed for people who want to do this in the future?
