Yep, glad you and the rest of the crew walked away and are ok. Mine was able to yard sale a full size Dodge truck when it hit me.

    Stay safe.

"Head on into a rock wall" you say? How big was the wall? As in, how tall?

Looking at the truck it looks like it didn't push the front in much. Hell, but bumper doesn't look like it's pushed back much. It it was a low and didn't hit the bumper/fenders but the skid and tires it may not have tripped the sensors. If you didn't say it was a head on I would never have guessed anything by a rollover based on the appearance of the truck.

It was about 8 feet tall. This little truck held up very well. I'm impressed

    Yeah.
The accelerometers will determine which airbags to deploy. Airbags did deploy, just not the front ones, which could indicate that most of the sudden deceleration was sideways. From the damage, this looks to be the case. But the black box may have recorded specifics.

The important thing is that you walked away with no injuries. I wouldn't worry about it, it seems like it did the right thing!

Good times, main thing is you didn't take anyone out on your way and are ok.

No small amount of people get pretty f***** up from those front airbags. I agree, looks like everything performed as it should.

So was it a straight on front impact into the wall, or was it more glancing on the driver side? (Looking at damage on the truck) If it's not a true head on the accelerometers that @TenBeers mentioned could have determined that the front airbags were not needed. An unnecessary airbag deployment could have caused injury rather than preventing it.

Glad everybody okay. I am a big believer in Toyota safety. Here is a news story from a couple of years ago. A Toyota Avalon was going the wrong way on I-5 and hit a semi head-on. Nobody in the Avalon was wearing seat belts and nobody died.

Do not get me started on "wrong way driving". Can hardly go 3 days in PHX without another asshole causing serious injury or death.

Being drunk, going the wrong way and not wearing seat belts, the only thing they did right was being in a Toyota. When you look at the pictures on the above link, I believe Toyota did save their lives.
