Chrome can be fine, just find ones without the stupid beauty caps that are 2 pieces. Look for ones that are casted as one piece

Found Dorman ones at my local store, just plain steel, I will go and grab some.

Thanks everyone! I would have never figured this out.

For future reference 22mm works fine for taking them off, its just a teeny bit sloppy but works fine

Alright, so I got some plain steel , chrome plated ones. They assured me they are not shite.

Last problem is one of the old lugs won't even take a 22mm. So I just got home with a 23mm...

    Hoping it works!

Make sure and carry a set of impact wrenches if your lungs are getting a little worn. Sucks to be in the middle of nowhere and get a flat then break a lug.

7/8 and 23mm too big, 22mm too small. I kept messing with it until finally I just said the hell with.

I took the 4-way tire iron that had a 22mm, great grandfather's old steel hammer, and just pounded that SOB until the chrome crap compressed back down to size (I guess). I ripped that nut off of the stud, inspected the studs and then proceeded to hammer the shit out of the lug in vain trying to free it from the tire iron. It's stuck on, so unfortunately we do have one casualty.

But the spare is ON and TORQUED DOWN correctly!!!

    I can drive again! Woohoo!

But THEN... I found out the tires, all of them including the spare...were way over inflated up to like 45psi. I brought them all down to 35 because I feel like that's more reasonable, the sticker on my taco says 30 but I feel like that's pretty low.. (what do you guys use?)

Anyway, the madness is over for now. Although I will have to keep going to different stores to get more lug nuts to replace all the other crappy ones. I had to go to two stores just to get 5 of them lol
