My 05 long bed 4x4 Tacoma has the steel wheels and I’m putting on a set of Tacoma alloy wheels. Both are stock 16x7.

Can I use the lugs from my steel wheels with the alloy wheels? Are they the same?

    Thanks!!!

Steelies are conical seat, alloys are shanked. No dice...

And you can't use universal mag lug nuts; they have shank diameters of .685 and .740. Need to get Toyota spec lugs - they have .725 diameter shanks and a depth of .550 (.875 dia shank for larger Toyota/Lexus trucks and SUVs). Plus, the trucks use longer lug nuts - 1.8" vs 1.5" for the cars. See Gorilla part# 73138XL for reference.

I have a full set of OEM lugs from a 2015 Off Road you can have for free plus shipping. They only saw about a year of use before going to a TRD wheel that required special lugs. Shipping probably won't be cheap, but likely cheaper than new OEM lugs.

I’d recommend going with new one piece lug nuts while you’re switching. Gorilla makes a good set that are all locks. My OE lug nuts swelled and couldn’t fit in the lug wrench, switched them out today.

    Chuy,

Thanks for the info. I noticed the stock lugs that came on my 2011 Tacoma with alloy wheels has the 1.5" full length (including the shank) versus the 1.8" you describe above. I went to Gorilla's website and see the 1.8" you mentioned. Is the length a necessity or a preference?

    Thanks again for your help!
