Lug nut size dilemma for 2025 rims on a 2023 Tacoma Access Cab

I recently bought a set of four new 2025 Toyota Tacoma TRD Tires with OEM Rims for my 2023 Tacoma Access Cab.

When installing them, I discovered a hub bore mismatch between the two model years—so I added spacers. But here's where things got complicated:

    • The 2023 lug nuts are too small for the OEM 2025 rims.

    • The 2025 lug nuts don’t have the correct thread for my 2023 Tacoma.
I initially thought I'd need 12×1.5 OEM lug nuts, but according to the KSP website, those only fit up to the 2022 model year. I’ve emailed them for clarification but haven't heard back yet.

Has anyone dealt with this before? What lug nut size or style would work with 2025 Tacoma OEM rims on a 2023 Access Cab

Are they talking about Tacoma to Tacoma or Tundra to Tacoma? It looks like at times they’re talking about both. I believe with the spacers I have the wheels should fit I just need the correct lug nuts.

The 4th Gen Taco and 3rd Gen Tundra share the same platform (TGNA), so stuff is interchangeable there. Less so back to the 3rd Gen Taco.

It is funny that the Tundra has the same schizztastic offset though. Not sure what Toyota was thinking.

Ahh I gotcha. Yeah I guess I should’ve done more research into this before I bought them. I just read up that all I would need is spacers and new lug nuts and I’d be fine.

    Cheers! BTDT.

True, but 1.25in min spacers are a lot. Just be sure that you are comfortable with that.

They would have to adapt the old to the new. It is possible, but I doubt there would be enough demand of people wanting to put new OE wheels on an older vehicle. With the increased offset, it would help to keep the wheel from rubbing on the UCA, but it would look really silly.

??? Did you click the link and read it?
These spacers (adapters) are specifically to do exactly this. At 1.25" (32mm) thick, they will also take the '24-'25 wheel's ~55mm offset down to 22-23mm, right close to what the stock TRD OR wheels for a 2023 are.

It doesn't specify that it is 1.25 to 1.5 lug nuts. It would probably work, but that .25 of extra space because your lugs are not tight would be concern on a lug centric adapter. Adapters are stupid to begin with and doing something like this is totally stupid. The better answer is to buy wheels that fit to begin with.

Same thing everyone else is, high offset wheels offer packaging advantages compared to standard ones and they decrease the scrub radius of the tire.

Of course, but there is a point where positive offset gets a bit ridiculous.

I get it as a bit of a necessity on the Taco if sharing Tundra parts, esp if it results in longer suspension arms for more travel. I suspect that was not the result though.

Use specially designed wheel spacers for this purpose. The spacers have the correct bore/lip diameterd to remain hubcentric, and M14 studs to use 4th gen OE lugnuts

Yes, but if the holes are drilled out on the adapter for a M14 and your studs are M12 and the adapter isn't hub centric, you are asking for trouble. You are asking for trouble with adapter to begin with, but this introduces another point of potential failure. It is just dumb.

And if adapters are made out of jello, it is really dumb. Unless it's raspberry jello. Then it will be a really tasty point of failure. And if earth is flat, you will fall off the end of it.
Do you argue about everything? It reminds me of a conversation I had with my teenage kid about his homework tonight. How old are you?

You have a couple different options.

1-Use the spacers you have but get a machine shop to press the studs out of them and reem them out to .625" and then press in some m14-1.5 studs. Then use stock m14-1.5 lug nuts.
2-Return those spacers and get 4 of these: https://www.spidertrax.com/whs036G?sc=2&category=9982
3-Sell those wheels and get some wheels you like that don't need spacers.
