Lug nuts for spare tire not fitting

I bought my Tacoma used with Konig Countersteer Offroad 16" rims. I got a flat yesterday and found that when I put the stock spare tire on the lug nut shanks were way too short for the tuner style lug nuts and ended up stripping the lug nuts out. I had to get my truck towed home and just went to Oreilleys & picked up 12mm x 1.5 Acorn lug nuts and found these had the same problem. My lug nut shanks stick out 7/8" from the hub. Do I have the wrong lug nuts or are my lug nut shanks possibly custom & too short for the stock spare rim?

 

I have a similar issue. My aftermarket wheels lug nuts do not fit my spare. Pick up some Toyota Tacoma OEM lug nuts just for when you have to use your spare.

 

I figured it out, the centerbore of the spare was too small. Found a used tire & rim for 70.
