I'm new to Tacoma World as of 10-25, I'm driving a 2008 Tacoma TRD. This is my 8th Tacoma,
Used to lease when I was working full time, now that I'm retired things change fast!

Do have a question, took my Tacoma into Toyota Dealership and asked them to rotate tires. They said they could not because somehow the lug nuts were worn down. They ordered new
ones at a cost of $ 10.00 and there are 24 needed. Does this sound right and if so how would this have happened?

Thanks Jim ( Northern Ohio - Burr this morning! )

Welcome to TW! Sounds weird. If they can take the tires off (which they would obviously need to do to replace the "worn" lugnuts) then they can rotate your tires. Take your truck to a tire shop and check with them.

If your lug wrench fits the nuts and removes them (you know, like if you had to DIY a flat) then you know if they are blowing smoke or not.

And even if they were all 'bad', proper replacements can be had for a lot less that $10 per.

They may have scared corners from ham fisted impact wrench work at tire shops, but I'll bet not a one is worn down.

You should find an independent shop of quality to do all your non DIY work. You'll save a lot of that retirement money.

That's a dealership for ya. :annoyed: We could of gotten you shipped all 24 of them for around $70 or less (depending on which lugs you have) versus the $240. If you haven't paid yet, get a second opinion from a local tire shop and have them rotate them if your lugs are just fine.

Another reason I just use the local dealership for recall work.
