I'm thinking about putting racks on my Tacoma. I know Rack-It makes some for Tacomas. I move all kinds of tools, ladders, plywood/lumber, the occasional couch or fridge. I don't usually transport lumber over 10 ft, only happens about once a year. I had a few questions, appreciate any feedback!

Can you still have a tool box on your truck with the racks?

I'm not regularly transporting lumber over 10 ft. Do you guys think I'd probably be better off with just a headache rack?

Is it a pain in the ass getting 3/4 ply or 5/8 drywall on and off the rack by yourself? I'm 6'3 and I'm pretty strong, still would rather make things easier than harder though.

    Thanks guys!

I know you posted this years ago but did you ever decide on something here?

I’m finding myself in the same situation at the moment.

Could you build a shelf the same height as the box and load on top of it for the plywood and drywall? I'm thinking 2x6 with plywood gussets. Maybe a 2x4 on edge under the shelf.

    Just a thought...
