Just got back from putting a deposit down for a '23 TRD Sport in lunar rock. First ever post here after reading these forums for a while.

Had been in and out of the dealership discussing MGM or Black until I saw a Lunar out in the wild. Went in today just to put my name on the list for one with leather and the tonneau cover. Figured it'd be a while til I got a call for one of those popping up, but the sales lady looks and sees one with everything I want just got put into the system... Wasn't prepared for that kinda pressure

Paid MSRP and opted for a $995 ceramic coating.. based on these forums I know that currently MSRP is the best you can hope for. Did I dun goof on the ceramic coating??!

The dealer I went through charged $1000 for PPF. At least it's something tangible (I can touch/ feel/ see it). If you consider $995 as a markup, I don' think its a terrible price to pay for a brand new Tacoma.

I don't have to get the Xzilon. I can opt out of it. My question is should I do so?

Most of what I read afterwards about dealer add on coatings is that they're overpriced and rather pointless

I would opt out since you don't really know if you're getting it. You can go to a local detailer and pay for ceramic coating or DIY.

I think it’s worth going to a local detailer, it’s something you want done right, it’s not that much $ either

Was planning to find a '23 in the spring, but I wound up taking this one home yesterday. Felt bad taking it straight off the comfort of the showroom floor and in to a blustery -10F salt bath, but the right deals always come up at the wrong time and I didn't like my odds of finding somewhat of a unicorn like this again..

Manual transmission double cab off road, not for us north of the border. Some reason we got the access cab off road manual up here and you didn’t. Who makes these decisions? Only double cab manual is a sport premium or pro up here. Don’t even get me started on the led headlights…..

Beats me, it's so weird! Not being able to just order something up (like I believe is the case with every other manufacturer I am aware of) made getting what I wanted kind of a stressful PITA. I also would have preferred just buying locally to me, but they weren't making me confident they would actually be able to secure something before it was too late, so I wound up at a high volume out of state dealer. The Canadian/US model differences were odd as well, if a MT-OR-AC was available down here I may have gone that route. But I think the dogs will appreciate all the windows in the back at least, and I haul them around more than lumber, so the reduced utility wasn't a dealbreaker I ultimately concluded..and now that I have it, I am glad I held out for the stick!
