Lunar Rock Gen III Thread

These are the toyota ones as they came on the truck. I would imagine they are all pretty similar though. No issues with mine.

 

I ordered a set off Amazon, cleaned the tailgate lettering with isopropyl alcohol, warmed the tailgate and stickers with a heat gun (it was around 20 degrees) and put them on. Have not had any issues so far.

 

That’s a clean truck!! I wanted to get that exact truck but it was a little out of my price range. Looks good

 

Thanks. I was very fortunate to have found it on a GMC dealership lot a couple hours from me. It was almost exactly what I would have ordered had I ordered it new - heated seats would have been nice. They had it advertised as a "green" SR, and didn't have any photos or a price on the website, but they did list the VIN. I pulled the build sheet from Toyota and it said it was a Lunar Rock TRD Off Road. I called to ask about it and the salesman sent me some photos - it was obviously an OR package. After several weeks of shopping, the price seemed very good so I made the trip. Now I spend way too much time on Tacoma World.

 

Finally got a little dirt on 'er. WMA roads and lunch at the mountain overlook not far from home. Great day with my 15-year-old son.

He thinks we need bigger tires, and I agree!!

 

Added black tailgate lettering, and took off the v6 badge.

 

Quick hand wash and reminder why LR is a great color!

 

Just need some color matched rear bumper caps now.

 

With your scheme so far, you might consider black for those bumper caps...

 

Painted the stock wheels months ago … holding up well so far

So what are the details on your fishing pole mount? I have a rear sherpa rack and looking to do something similar.

It was made by a local surfcaster/welder, but I don't think he's building any longer due to age/injuries. The racks were sold under the name "Rac A Rod", you can still find him on Facebook or do an image search. The easier & cheaper solution is to get a small rhino rack, but I wanted something more secure.
