Alright, so, I've been searching and searching locker threads. I think I now have more questions than when I started...

I have a 2013 TRD Sport. I want to put a locker in the rear. I already see that ARB is the locker of choice, so let's get that out of the way...

What I want to know is, can I put a lunchbox style locker in the LSD rear that came with my Sport without setting gears and such like in the open diff? If no, than I'll go another route.

    Thank you

You have an an open diff so all you have to do is set backlash as long as you use your original carrier.

After all of that searching, and finally just asking, I just stumbled across the answer. Lol!

I didn't realize the LSD on these trucks was accomplished using the brakes. So, it's just an open diff with simulated LSD? Good for me I guess.

Ive always wonder if having a locker with vsc if you could ever get in a situation where the truck was trying to stop one rear wheel while the locker was still engaged what would happen.

if the locker was engaged, there wouldnt be any difference in rotation between the two tires and the brakes would not be applied.

OP you might want to look at the TruTrac ... its a torsen LSD that seems to do pretty well.

That stated. Add this to another case of TRD OffRoad stock elocker envy. :D

They got me with that too when I bought my '13 sport. Turns out the last mechanical limited slip was in the '09s.

The system would try and brake the tires and both would stop or slow down, nothing wrong there but it might not yeild the desired effect.

but its still an LSD (unless your talking bout a auto locker) so wheels can spin at different rates at some point.

Im talking about my experience with an Detroit ez-locker (lunchbox locker that the op asked about) that it does not lock and unlock when it should.mine I could drift through a turn and it would only unlock it I turned really sharp. It would lock and unlock so hard it would scare you some times.somtimes I could be a half a mile down the road after my turn and I let off the gas and it would unlock with a pop.so I think a situation could arise where it would be locked in a slide.

yup.... thats the downside of those style of auto lockers. Very prone to spinning an inside tire in a turn then going CLUNK locking and next thing you know you are in a drift.

This is why you dont find them on production vehicles for the most part.... outside of the Eaton G80 found on chevy's which actually does a DAMN good job i loved mine in my 2500HD (about the only thing i liked on that truck) But it would only engage at ~ 5mph or less.
