Evening folks, I’ve lurked on and off for 11 years, but I finally pulled the trigger on getting a Tacoma! Last Friday I drove off the lot with a 2022 Tacoma TRD Off Road! Now the fun stuff begins, from floor liners and camper tops to front and rear bumpers and I’ll be looking for recommendations!

The first thing I’m looking for is a replacement rear bumper with swing arm to mount the spare tire. Is there such a bumper that won’t have an impact on sensors, impair view of the rear camera, and doesn’t require cutting/modding the Tacoma? Looking forward to the responses. Thanks!

    Congrats @TacTeacher

Hmm idk if this is something you’re even considering, but may I add an option for your rear tire carrier?
I use a Rigd tire carrier - now this does not offer any armor, but this doesn’t require cutting your brand new truck. As for sensors, I have no idea where they’re located as my truck is a 2017 so hopefully you can judge by the pictures.

Along with the carrier I use a “anytime backup” camera near my license plate, and I can override the factory one, enabling me to see behind the entire setup still.
Here’s some pics and I hope it helps:

Nice truck welcome -I did the same and have a 21 sport 4 wd very happy with it. Coming from a full size chevy for many years enjoy the smaller truck for garage space and ciry driving.

Once had a lurker/stalker, well several actually. But this once I looked out the window of an overnight job at like 2am, and there she was. Sitting outside in the cold VT winter. Yikes.

    Yeah.
Congrats on the truck finally! The above may be your only option that leaves the BSM sensors (located in the bumper ends) functional and ticks most of your boxes -- except the tire would block the stock backup sensor. I think there is (or was -- some of these bumper outfits come and go) one aftermarket bumper that claims to retain BSM functionality, but not sure if they had a swingout option. Supposedly the BSM sensors need to be recalibrated through what appeared to be a complicated procedure requiring specialized tooling. Most steel bumpers with swingout would likely require cutting the bed sides and eliminate the BSM.

Looks like your option is the better option. Fortunately I have a buddy who can do a camera set up for me to allow for cam use. I’ll look into it and THANKS for the info TenBeers!! Now on to finding the right front bumper .
