<ahem> don't look to close at the exposure settings on some of them tho. Got kinda lazy at times. Using f5.6 at 1/640th of a second at ISO 160, IN BROAD DAYLIGHT, is not ideal

Great pics! Where, approximately did you turn around on HITR? On top on Grey Mesa?

 

ummm..i can tell you the exact spot actually when i get home in a bit. I was sad we had to turn around. But the weather was rolling in and we had to make sure we could make it to the Maze the next day.

 

We turned around right at Dugway's Camp.

 

Gotcha, going to check it out this spring, that landscape with the slickrock and the water is surreal.

Oh, and fun fact about Hite, the lake is something like 8-10 miles down river from where it should start at Hite. If you looked by the road on the West side of the river you could see the drift wood from when the lake was last full many many years ago. That place was pretty creepy, with the nearly empty gas station shelves and coolers, and the "marina" full of ghost ships.

 

I'm somewhat surprised the Hite store still exists. Modern day ghost town.

That made me wonder when the lake was last full, and if it'll ever be full again. Maybe Hite will have a resurgence in a few decades.... or not.

 

Google says '99 was the last time full, and I would venture never again.

 

Yea we didn't go there. Didn't think there was gas there or we would have. The lake used to come all the way up to it you can tell. Likely won't ever again...
