Just finished cleaning the ride and put it away until Oct 6th. It was great seeing a couple familiar faces from the Huckfest and finally meeting the Avatars in person. Mike, Thanks again for setting up and inviting.:D

WORD! I passed out for about 3 as well. I woke up for an hour to kill another beer, have a smoke, get the dirties out of the dryer and passed out again soon after. That weekend was SO much fun. Haven't partied like that in a long time. Thanks for the invite, team.

Does anyone know what day the Holiday 200 lands on? Last year was a Saturday I think; I need to know wether to take a Sunday off again or not. The extra weekend day in the desert really kicked ass.

Ah. I see why I couldn't find it; I was only clicking the link in bold that says "Holiday 200." After clicking the 2012 race schedule, I found that it lands on a Saturday (Dec 1.) I'll take the Sunday off anyway so I can be there to watch us accept the award for 1st.

Engage Off Road Racing had High’s and Low’s this past weekend at the MORE/SNORE KC Midnight Special out in Lucern Valley California. The Race took place on a warm Saturday in the High Deserts of Southern California. The Race Began as scheduled on a 72 mile lap race course on Saturday September 8th at 3:45 pm and would run into the night. With close to 200 entries and every 15 seconds a vehicle leaving the starting line, this was to be a very exciting door-to-door race.
The first truck off the line for the Engage Off Road Racing Team was the1423 DustforDogs.com/EngageOffRoad F-150 truck with Driver of Record Jeffrey Musgrave and his two navigators Doug and Brent Page. This was Doug and Brent’s first time navigating in a Class 1400 truck as their origin is racing a Class 9, a limited Volkswagen open wheel race vehicle. They were 6th off the line in Class and started moving up the line with in the first 9 miles. Jeff and the 1423 DustforDogs.com/EngageOffRoad F-150 truck had no mechanical issues their first lap; they simply lost one of their two spare tires roughly around Race Mile 50 when they hit a very big roller. Their second lap they unfortunately hit a very large rock in the wash which blew out their passenger side front tire and bent the passenger rear rim. Jeff, Doug and Brent changed out the two tires and got the truck to Race mile 53 where they met up with Chase 2 lead by Crew Chief Jerry Allen and Chase 3 Lead by Chase Chief Michael Anthony Hermogeno, where they overlooked the front suspension, tightened a few bolts and gave Jeff the “OK” to continue the race.
While all of this had been going on, the Second Engage Off Road Race Truck, Racing in Class 1450 and being driven by Driver of Record Hassim Mendez and Navigator James Whitmore were second to take off the line in Class. By Race mile 4 they had already passed up 1st place and were getting into Class 1300 traffic and passing them as the race continued, “the truck was amazing, it loved the new BFGoodrich 37 inch tires and we could go much faster now that we had the better ground clearance and the bigger tires to stay out of the holes” ranted and raved Driver of Record Hassim Mendez after the race. Hassim and James ran the truck hard and had a very good lead over second place by Race Mile 18 where suddenly the motor started to overheat and lost compression. Hassim ran the truck all the way to Race Mile 28 where it lost all power and unfortunately is as far as the 1478 DNAEnergy/EngageOffRoad Toyota Tacoma, BFGoodrich Sponsored 1450 truck made it to. They at that point radioed in to Main Pit Chief Chris Klebe to come get them in the Engage Off Road 4 seat Pre-Runner and start to focus the entire team on getting Jeff and the1423 DustforDogs.com/EngageOffRoad F-150 to the podium.
At this point Team Driver Vi Tang and Navigator Rob Zonne, who were scheduled to race the second half of the race in the 1478 DNAEnergy/EngageOffRoad Toyota Tacoma, BFGoodrich Sponsored 1450 truck were “out of luck” as the truck had broke. The entire time Jeff had been listening to the radio communications and made a decision to get Engage Team Driver Vi Tang and Navigator Rob Zonne in the1423 DustforDogs.com/EngageOffRoad F-150 truck and help him race the second half of the race. As if the timing was set and planned, Hassim arrived to main camp in tow just in time to help get Doug and Brent out of the 1423 DustforDogs.com/EngageOffRoad F-150 truck and get Vi and Rob in, the truck at that point needed another spare tire and rim so the team beat on the bent rim to straight it out and filled it with air, they filled up the 1423 DustforDogs.com/EngageOffRoad F-150 truck with fuel and took off into the night to get their place back!
The third lap was a great lap for the 1423 DustforDogs.com/EngageOffRoad F-150 truck but the time was running out for the team, as they had to start their fourth and final lap before 11pm to be allowed to go back out and continue racing. Jeff and the1423 DustforDogs.com/EngageOffRoad F-150 truck started to call out their position at Race Mile 60 to keep the EngageOffRoad Main Pit informed on their location as the cutoff time of 11pm was coming near. Jeff got the 1423 DustforDogs.com/EngageOffRoad F-150 truck to main camp at 10:53pm where the Engage Off Road Racing Pit Team did an amazing job, the crew did a “Splash and Dash” of fuel and got the 1423 DustforDogs.com/EngageOffRoad F-150 truck in and out of the pit in 1minute 23 seconds. This gave plenty of time for Jeff, Vi and Rob to get the 1423 DustforDogs.com/EngageOffRoad F-150 truck to the Start/Finish line that was less than 500 yards away.
At “Start/Finish” Jeff was informed by the race officials that he would have to do a 1 hour lap time to finish in time which would be unheard of in his class as the average lap time was 1hour 40 minutes. Jeff’s reply to the official was “OK!” as he put his foot down on the gas pedal and took off the line into the night to make his racing goal of finishing a race a priority. Unfortunately Jeff, Vi and Rob “times out” but had an amazing fourth lap. Jeff, Vi and Rob caught up fifth place that was over 8 miles ahead of them and passed them by Race Mile 28. They un-officially took 5th place but had a great experience doing so.
Hassim and Jeff both had a great experience just as they always do Racing with MORE, and the entire Engage Off Road Racing Team once again showed that the team effort is what gets them to the finish. Jeff after the race said “the first two laps I drove around race course, the second half I raced thanks to Vi Tang, Rob Zone and the Engage Off Road Racing Team!”
The next scheduled race is the MORE Powder Puff Race in October 6th out in Barstow California where both the Class 1400 and 1450 Engage Off Road Race Trucks will be handing over the driver and passenger seat to Female Drivers and Navigators for “The Race to the Cure!” race this season. Make sure you keep an eye out and cheer on the 1423 DustforDogs.com/EngageOffRoad F-150 truck and the 1478 DNAEnergy/EngageOffRoad Toyota Tacoma, BFGoodrich Sponsored 1450 Truck. See everyone in October…
