Its a very sad world we live in. The best thing is nobody will be able to steal your truck anymore.

Most people on the road seem to be too busy taking selfies and checking Instagram to shift gears.

Actually likely 50% or greater European tourists could jump in and joyride the fvck outta our trucks. This is pretty much a NA scope of sadness.

I was born in europe and will agree with you, most cars i saw were manuals. Mostly diesels too.

I love my MT Taco and MX5. There is a visceral joy with cycling through the gears.

It’s kind of like using a well-tuned handplane to flatten a table top vs a belt sander.

The big question: Will the 4th generation Tacoma still cater to the 5% of buyers that opt for a manual transmission? I think the option will be dropped. It would be a tough business case selling it to senior management and the accountants.

Manual's are fun. But they suck in traffic.

Unfortunately the way things are going, i doubt there will be MT option.

1st gear is very low in v6 taco, actually not bad in traffic at all. You can idle along just fine without playing that clutch game.

I dunno, people said the same in 2015 when the 3rd gen was getting ready to come out. Although they did whittle down the available trims you could get the MT in, but here's hoping they keep it alive for the next model generation.

If anything truly kills the MT in the Toyota lineup it will be more strict emissions requirements and more models becoming hybrid and/or electric. Which is pretty likely in the years to come

I’d say soon all manuals will be gone, that’s why when I saw my “18 on the lot I jumped on it.

Only one within 4 dealers of me that had a manual

I drove “3” on the tree
I drove “4” on the floor
    I drove 5 speed and 6 speed
Got hooked on dual clutch transmissions
Until dual clutch becomes available on more makes and models I’ll enjoy auto transmissions
Manuals were great, but no looking back for me
