My clutch pedal had a very distinct click when engaging, turns out the push rod play was almost 20mm. Spec is 1-5mm. Follow the whole procedure pgs 1882-1883. 10 min tops.

You'll need a 14mm wrench to hold the end piece, and a 12mm to back off the lock nut. Once it's loose, just turn the shaft (while holding the end piece) to lengthen it and decrease the end play.

**WARNING - DO NOT WING THIS. FOLLOW THE PROCEDURE IN THE MANUAL. IF YOU'RE UNSURE, DO NOT ATTEMPT. DAMAGE TO YOUR CLUTCH COULD RESULT IF YOU MESS IT UP.

    Props to @gearcruncher and @over60

Tried to access, but onedrive won't allow for opening. Thanks for posting this though - I'm looking forward to getting this sorted out.

Kinda the other main reason for creating this thread - draw attention to the service manual.

Teach a bro to fish kinda thing.

    Oh, and its only 250MB!

Don't thank me, props to the dudes in post #1.

Just came back from a quick spin, clutch feels much better. More precise even, since the first buncha pedal throw isn't wasted doing nothing.

Got it adjusted to 2mm. Perfect.

OP - consider removing the link and offering it via PM.... Toyota WILL find this and ruin a good thing.

Not the first thread the link has been in, but I'll remove the direct wording in post #1 at least...

If you have the click (ie sloppy clutch pedal), you'll need to do this..

Nope, just trying to help a M/T brother.

It annoyed the piss outta me, and I KNOW there's other peeps on TW with the same mental illness (OCD) lol.

Well, either way, thanks a lot. I've had the FSM for every vehicle I've owned, and was feeling a bit lost without one for this truck. You stumble across anything to do with clunking in drivetrain with the new MT?

If you mean the clunking/clanking when going over bumps (while clutch depressed), my truck did this from day one. All I can tell you is keeping the zerks in the driveshafts greased seems to lessen it.

I'm getting a clunking even without the clutch depressed like a drive train slop.

I guess I don't worry about it too awful much because I've had other M/T RWD/4WD vehicles that have done it to some degree. It is annoying at times though.

i seem to notice noise only when doing things like crossing a speed bump with the clutch depressed, or maybe it makes the noise when the pedal's traveling and between positions. but i never hear noise just driving around with the clutch engaged

I have that too. With all my other vehicles that was usually sign of a busted transmission mount. With the fox bodys and fbody cars, we'd just put in a urethane mount. Stopped the slop but also does transfer more drivetrain noise. Trade off.

If you fuck this up you'll have premature clutch wear and often warranty won't cover it.

I would strongly suggest anyone inexperenced to not touch that nut.
