PC - I built my own about 4 years back, and it's still faster tons than new ThinkCentres will greater specs. Here's my specs, and keep in mind that it's 4 years old:

    ASUS P5GD2 motherboard
Intel 2.4 overclocked to 2.8 (before dual cores)
    Coolermaster aftermarket CPU fan
    ATI x800 (I think, but not sure) 256mb GDDR3
    2GB Corsair premimum memory
WD 36 Raptor hard drives set to RAID 0 (OS is on these)
    80GB seagate (data)
XP Pro SP3 (IMO best OS MS put out so far)

I want a Apple, but here's the big difference between the two. Software companies really don't make software for Macs. Until they do, Macs will always be 2nd.

What can be better than an OS that has an BSD platform?

    Vista = FAIL

I am a Mac guy until the end...but am forced to use XP at work. What a piece of junk that system is! I can't believe people pay money for something that has errors straight out of the box, not to mention countless design flaws.

Of course if everybody used a Mac, the whole IT support sector would be unemployed. I flip every time the IT dude says "did you try rebooting the system?" Are you kidding me? That isn't a fix to a problem! [I only restart my Mac when I update the OS.]

I started out with a Mac, but every single job I've had save for one uses PC's. So I bought a PC because the Mac had problems reading some of the files from work. I'm so used to Pc's now that I don't really care. I run Windows XP because Vista is shit. But I've heard Windows 7 is supposed to be fantastic. We will see. The thing that annoys the HELL out of me with my PC, which is now 4 years old, is that every time I turn it on, I have to close 5-6 little popups warning me about non-existent problems. That and the power savings mode used to cause the CPU to overclock for some strange reason, so I turned it off.

So ya- PC's are janky. But they work for me and they're dirt-cheap.

Just switched to a black MacBook last Fall. I use it a lot for our church stuff, and it is great for multimedia. I had PCs all my life, but just got tired of the bugs/glitches probably due to Windows. I'm very happy with my Mac! :D

The Beta of Windows 7 IS fantastic. We'll see what happens when the final version comes out, but it seems to me that it's the OS that Vista should have been. It runs much faster on my PC, uses a much smaller memory footprint than Vista, and has quite a few other nice features included. From what I've read in the developer blogs on the MS website, it sounds like they're really listening to the feedback that they've received on it. MS really screwed up on Vista, and I think it will probably go the way of Windows ME once Windows 7 is released, but it seems to me like Windows 7 will redeem them. The best thing that MS could do would be to offer everyone with a Vista license a reduced price upgrade to Windows 7.

Personally, I'll always be a PC guy. My first computer over 20 years ago was a PC, every computer since has been a PC, and the software that I use for work is PC only. Plus, the markup on hardware for a Mac is ridiculous, and I could never justify it.

I hope so, because XP is getting long in the tooth, plus the graphics look like crap. Being a graphics guy, its sort of depressing using XP in a ways. I think if Windows 7 winds up being good, I will get a new PC: Mine is getting up there in age.

I am sorry PC guys but I don't think I will be back to a PC, ever! I am in love with my new MBP, I might marry it.

It is all it's crack up to be, but it doesn't warrant the price tag.

 A lot of that is different on Windows 7. The user account control can be easily disabled on your first logon, and you'll never hear a peep from it again.

Don't Macs come with Safari preloaded? Why do I get Apple Update notices daily on my PC trying to get me to install Bonjour, Mobile Me, and Safari, which I have no use for, just because I have Itunes on my comptuer? It's all relative... I can do more with my PC, because Apple doesn't support applications like AutoCAD, which I use daily.

You can find RAM for cheap online. Thats what I'm running on my macbook pro, I'm not paying 300$ for 4 Gbs of RAM. Thats absurd. And when I take my macbook pro in to the apple store to get fixed, I put the original RAM back in so it doesn't void the warranty. ;)

Ram for the new MBP is BS, for the 8gb it is $700. Sucks ass for now I am stuck with 4 gb.

And OWC with offer 40 bucks for the original ram, a bit of a slap in the face.

Not sure what kind of MBP you have, but I upgraded my black MacBook to 4GB for only $55. I bought the memory on www.crucial.com. Some memory is around $700-800 for the MBP 8GB kits, but there were some lower than that. Check it out.

I will say that if money were not an issue, I'd get a loaded MAC laptop. A friend of mine has one. The thing is fast and smooth as butter. The company Dell laptop I use is JUNK and S-L-O-W. Course' I get to surf wireless internet at home for free on it so I shouldn't bitch. But still... those macs are nice.

I just got a loaded Dell Studio XPS desktop for my boss with an Intel I7 processor, 8GB of Ram and a 2x320GB RAID0... It's ridiculously fast, even running Vista, and it only cost $1200 complete with a 23" LCD.
