Running Windows XP Pro (gotta install) SP3.

I picked up the top macbook 2.4ghz 2 weeks ago to replace my hp laptop, and I prefer using it then my desktop for most things. I installed vista on the mac and to my surprise it runs vista better then it did on my laptop of only a year old.

It is kinda annoying that not all programs are mac compatible, but the few I need for school I just boot up in windows problem solved. It nice to have both computers though.

There is an inexpensive student ACADEMIC version of WORD and EXCEL for MAC that is great! It is totally compatible with PCs. THe incompatibility issues between PCs and MACs are fading rapidly......

See VMWare Fusion software. $80. Allows a MAC to run either Leopard OSX software or Windows software seamlessly on the same computer. Think about it......for $80 bucks you can have a MAC and PC. The PC cannot do this. Once again, Apple wins. I have used both computer systems and the PC is ancient technology. If you love trojan horses, viruses, malware and computer lockups....get a PC.

Already have VMWare.:) I use it for my database class. I only need windows to run Visual studio, and expressions for my web class. I use vmware to boot up windows to so I can do some work with it, but for somethings I do it runs to slow so I boot directly into windows.
    I downloaded office 2008.

That's not true actually. The reason Mac OS software won't run on a standard PC is because Apple actively prevents it. It's the equivalent of Microsoft refusing to allow it's OS on any computer equipped with the Mac Bios. If they did that, the Mac folks would howl about monopolies but when their company does it, it's a "competitive advantage". There were people who got the x86 version of the Mac OS to run on a standard PC when it was Beta but they were threatened with legal action by Apple. The Mac runs on PC hardware (x86). VMWare runs on PCs as well and if Apple wasn't trying to force people into overpriced hardware, one could just as easily run a VMWare image of a Mac.

I don't assert Apple is cheaper, just a better operating system, more stylish design, much better support.

I'm asserting that they're protectionist and monopolistic. I don't want my software tied to my hardware. The OS could easily run on any PC one wanted. If they're better, let them sell the OS and compete.

If you think Microsoft is giving you choices and competes, perhaps you should read about the hundreds of anti-competitive lawsuits they have faced worldwide. Apple understands that it's competitive advantage is its intellectual property and product design and prodcut development.....so it protects it. What is wrong with that?

Microsoft built an operating system that strives because of competition. Apple didn't.

I love all you anti-Windows people that have Apples and say they're great because they can Windows. You're all a bunch of hypocrites
