Hi... I'm new but I've been finding info here since Chik-Fil-A was only at the mall. I've had my 04 V6 Tacoma for a couple years now and it's as reliable as they get. There's Yota history here before that though. The previous owner was my Dad and he took good care of it. He bought it in 2010 near mint with 50k, it was the lowest mileage xtra-cab 4wd V6 within a 999 mile radius. We worked together until he retired when he sold it to me with 135k on it. He then tracked down a new 04 for himself, the lowest mileage 1st gen he could find, again.

Anyway... Back in the 60's & 70's he was always a Ford guy. My childhood was Army Green F150's in Colorado until 1985 when he saw Back To The Future. There was a black Toyota 4WD Truck in the movie. He said that he heard they were good trucks so he decided to try one. He saved $ and drove an hour to Durango to get the last years model, a 1984 single cab 4WD 22RE for $8800 brand new. He drove it until 98 when he gave it to my brother with 290k on it and got himself a new 98 V6 xtra-cab 4WD. He drove that 98 until 250k in 2010 when he got the 04 that I now have.

Ok... Enough icing. Now for the Cake.

I live in the south now and a few guys in domestic trucks have called me a "traitor" or neighbors mentioned that I need to "be American buy American". And... Well, I was born in The USA and I want to support Made In USA. I Love Henry Ford, my Grandfather was Army Medic with the 101st Airborne and my Dad was National Guard Firefighter. I know Pearl Harbor Veterans are gonna say "mushafusha why can't you get a Ford?!" But kids 10 years younger than me?! I really drive the truck to honor my Dad, he hooked me up or I honestly couldn't have afforded the Toyota. I took over our family carpentry business and was blessed with a deal on the truck I had a decade of memories with my Dad working together. And... Now that I'm working on my Tacoma I realized it was made in California. And just for kicks I checked the neighbors truck... His 4 door Chevy truck was made in Mexico but I can't bring myself to tell him that. Plus... Me, when I was 16, any 4x4 was cool af. Everything Is Earth. []Peace []Dlease

    Welcome!

I love hearing people who buy “American” cars that were made in Mexico and Canada tell me to buy American. Especially Dodge owners that don’t know they are driving a vehicle made in Canada for an Italian company.

Meanwhile, my truck was built in Texas and will last 5 times as long as their POS.

To me it seems like all vehicles these days are made of parts from all over the place. My Dad thought it's just smart to get the safest, highest resale, most reliable vehicle you can. Especially when it comes to business, it's same as a hard working employee... you want the most reliable truck you can get too. Everyone Copied Henry Ford

I did a little bit of research and some sources say for 2019 lineup the only truck made 100% in the USA is the Honda Ridgeline. I thought Ford's F250s & F350 are made 100% in Kentucky. No? I don't remember, plus I might be wrong cuz...you know... The internet

    Welcome to TW.
Car/ trucks are assembled at the plants in the locations marked on the door jam, but the components that make up the vehicle are made all over the world. So to say they are made in one location is false. This isnt like the Hoover dam where they had to have a onsite concrete facility to get the pours correct.
Just take it for what it is that you own the best gen and keep her alive and running.
Edit..... I would tell my neighbor though just to see the reaction on his face.

I dipped a toe to test the water earlier... Told neighbors that USA pays a good chunk of Japans defense budget just so we can have a few of our bases there. He said he has nothin against Japanese... said recently he went to another neighbors and the aren't from here. Said their noodles or rice and everything they offered him was good and they are really cool as long as they don't talk smack about McDonald's.

No use to arguing about what vehicle is made where or is American. Parts are made all over the world and everything is made world wide now days. The Camry is more American than the Dodge Hellcat for example.
The 1960’s mentally is long gone.
