Let me respond to some of the comments, which BTW I really do appreciate. I belong to several classic car forums (hence my screen name) and they are great learning tools.

The first posted picture didn't really show the front end and it's difficult to see a hood scoop on the 16's from the side because it's integrated so much into the hood. Below is a front shot and side shot. The Sport decal is the same as all of the others.

Next, I don't think you can compare what anyone paid for older models until you actually go out there and see how MUCH the new ones cost. I've seen Sports with sticker prices OVER MSRP, and some of these idiots are paying that amount. Such is the case in areas of Florida where some dealers are adding Area Market Value Adjustment, which is just another charge to tack onto the MSRP.

The MSRP on this truck was over $35K but that again included dealer add-on's. The tax rate here is 6%; all of the dealers add on Adm Fee of $700-$900 and while a lot will simply say they won't pay this - they won't buy in Florida because either the dealer adds it on separately or lessens the discount.

    Cool.

I didn't realize the scoop was that integrated into the hood.

No I just can't believe someone would buy a midsize 2wd truck for 33k and it's not even the top trim. I know I'm not the only one.

Willing to bet that 95% of the people who buy trucks never even use the 4X4 ( people on this forum dont count as we arent typical).

The OP was smart in that he knows what he wants and got it vs paying up for something he didnt (4X4)

At the end of the day if you think 33K is a lot of money for a class leading truck well then not sure what else to say.

Well that's what I wanted; opinions. But let me add that I would like to know what others have paid OUT THE DOOR for the 2016 trucks they have, regardless of trim. I bet those that do not have nor have shopped for the 16's have no idea how much they are.

BTW - I have not been to the dealership yet to finalize the deal so please, share with me your expertise and insight as to what pricing I should be looking for.

That was just my opinion. If you want it, go for it. It's just crazy those are the prices for one.

Why did the 3rd gen have a spike in prices? It used to be unheard of to pay anymore than $35k for a non-Baja/Pro Tacoma.

The other day I went to build a Tacoma on the website putting all the options my '12 TRD OR 4x4 had and it came out to $39k. That was $7k+ more than what I got the 12 for brand new

I hate to show my ignorance but what is PT? No JBL,
It's a Sport with tow package, running boards, mats, pin stripe, door edge guards, and window tint.

You guys are making me think this is not such a good deal. TELL me what YOU paid , OTD.

Exactly what TDNick said, I think us 2nd gen guys are just surprised at what Tacoma prices are now. "Back in my day..."

    THIS ^^^^^^^^^^^

OH and Yeah Florida has horrible "Doc Fees" up to $999. Amazingly people get hit with that in F&I and pay it like it's a law.

I paid $33,217 Before Tax, TTL on a TRD Sport with JBL Premium and tech, Towing, plus their addendum sticker pack which included tint, ToyotaCare, One year ding and FOB protection , tint, nitrogen and pinstriping, mop and glo
The Premium and Tech with JBL option added $2701 (invoice) to my truck. Towing added $579 (invoice)

INVOICE was $32717 MSRP was $36,xxx

Sales tax is capped here at $300

Basically my deal was exactly $500 over Invoice. That deal included their $1295 "pack," Mop and glo and "Doc Fee"

Based upon what TacoBella indicated of paying $33,217 before tax & title, maybe my deal is not so bad @ $33,000 OTD?? This includes $699 dealer fee, $307 doc fee, and $1900 in sales tax. Am I missing something?

Either way, $2,690 off the msrp, on a '16 Tacoma is pretty good. Enjoy!! :)

No You aren't way off. If you don't have the Premium and tech. Your taxes and fees paid cost about the same as the Premium and tech option,

You paid $30,987 for the truck before taxes, and that's a $1000 above Invoice......

    Invoice is $29981 or so.

MSRP (without the Mop and glo and dealer crap fees) is only $32,315 Not $35K
