Longer than it should. It's a tricky scheduling dance. I'm a single father with 100% custody and only one vehicle. So I have a small window of time each day to work on it (not to mention full time employment).

The last day or so my main priority was to make sure I had functioning and safe seat belts for me and my daughter.

I'd say right now I've put in about 12 hours of labor total.

    One so far.... shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Gives you an idea of what I did with the rear quarter walls. Sorry this picture sucks so much. You can't even see the driver's side front seat belt mechanism area. I'll upload a better one soon.

Took out the rear speaker brackets and put raam mat on the outer skin behind it. Truly that is the only resonant area of that outer skin.

While I was in there I reached in where the outer skin and inner skin are nearly touching (by the strike-latch of the front door. Whenever I'd shut the door, there were three points that would end up hitting each other (metal on metal). So I got some mat in between those three points. No more rattle when I shut the door.

Put a small rim of foam on the back side of the brackets to pad it from rattling on the metal wall.

Then I put the rear brackets back in, took the speakers out, then covered it with more mat and foam. I will not be using rear speakers in my new set up.

Lastly I secured the seat belt retractor mechanisms as best as possible without affecting their performance. The guts of the mechanisms, on the side, rattle with good thumping of the walls (and I plan on putting a 10" sub in). Then I covered the openings, with mat and foam, to cut down on road noise. Again taking care not to mess with the seat belt performance.

Nice build! Will the dye stain come off, or weep, in the heat? I hate the blue interior of my truck and I've often wondered about redoing the interior like you are, but I'm a bit iffy on the durability of the dye.

The dye is permanent. It is incredibly durable. It will not weep or anything else. I've learned that the trick is to let it cure for 3-5 days without reassembling it or handling it at all.

My only other bit of advice is to use this only on the door panels fabric and such. I would never use it on the seats or carpet. It really makes the fabric stiff after you apply enough to change it from that awful gray/blue to black.

For me I'm getting new carpet and seat covers (and eventually, hopefully, new seats).

Cool, thanks for the info. Carpet I can live with, the seats can either be replaced or just use covers. Actually, I think I had bookmarked last year a place that sells new molded carpets, our trucks included. Not sure how good the fit is, but there's that option at least.

I'm in contact with this guy:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/1995-2004-T...el:Tacoma&hash=item1e66227883&vxp=mtr&afsrc=1

    (mind you not that color)

He's sending me two samples of his cutpile this week (charcoal and graphite). YamahaDave (I think that's who) installed this carpet kit and said it's awesome.

Well I got pretty sick and tired of forgetting that my phone is in the upper part of the center console, only to lift it up and hear my phone crash inside of it so I affixed two belt clips to the inner wall then slide on a beefy case.

Now all I do is put my phone in the case and it stays put... and protected (especially when wheeling)

And now my loyal build followers (just go with it...) I walk outside to spray paint/dye the very last pieces. From here on out, any spray painting I will be doing will be touch up.

It's been a great last year of spray painting. First off I'd like to thank my mom, she's always been there for me. I'd also like to thank various members of TW for rightfully mocking how much time, and money, I've spent on spray paints. I'd like to thank the Academy... Rustoleum and Duplicolor... I couldn't do it without you guys *winks into the monitor* And last but not least, I'd like to thank Ol' Red.

Oh wait... I still have to do my wheels.... YES!!!! YES!!!!!! MORE SPRAY PAINTING!!!!!!!

Considering my ass has been on them for 157,000 miles, I think they've held up well. There are no rips or tears or any significant signs of wear. The head rests are kind of jacked up like every other bucket seat of this era.

I often steam clean the seats from spring through fall, so they are pretty clean.

And I don't want to ship.

If they're not moving locally I will consider it.
