At this rate, it'll happen quickly.

I'm going to do a lot more black, with the exception of the top of the dash (I think)

That blue/gray color is perfect for having its reflection blend in to the asphalt when it's sunny out (does that make sense?) Plus a black dash in Colorado's sun is not fun.

But the door trim and the rest of the dash trim, etc will be black.

Even thinking about doing to the door carpet.

And eventually will replace the interior carpet with black

Looks good! I'd take the mudflap brackets off though to clean up the look a little. Just a suggestion

Yeah, I'm about to go outside, take all the mud flap brackets off, clean them up and spray them down with rust reformer primer (just in case).

Take off and clean up all the mud flaps real well (something I don't really incorporate into my normal wash routine) and give them a nice 303 treatment.

    Thanks.

FYI if you ever do this, most primers are not heat rated enough for the exhaust.

So I just wire brushed it, cleaned it, then sprayed the high heat (grill paint - 1200 degrees F) directly on it.

I'll let you know how it holds up.

In case you're wondering these are the conditions under which I'm trying to spray paint... on top of constant breezes.

Pulled all the dash trim pieces out, primed and painted them black. I'm kind of hung up on whether or not to keep them semi-gloss or not. They're glossier than the OEM trim pieces (stereo faceplate, gauge cluster surround, etc) but I don't want the grungy look of flat. I like the ease of clean up with the semi-gloss so far. Maybe I'll try to find something in between flat and semi-gloss... Is that matte or satin?

Below is a before shot... they're drying in the garage because of all the cottonwood flying

^^ I would do that too. Change my brown int > black. But I think the smell would kill me especially with the summer heat comin.

So far I've painted (as you know) my center console/cup holder assembly, shifter trim, vinyl dyed my shifter boot(s), and vinyl dyed my transfer case knob. I have no smell whatsoever.

The worst was the TRD transmission shifter knob I bought. The friggen glue smelled god awful. I bought it back in November or something.... let it sit in my garage until about 3 weeks ago. My garage stunk the whole time and my truck stunk quite a bit as well while that thing still off gassed.

My hand will still smell a bit after driving too.

But I think you'd be good to go if you let the paint cure/dry in your garage for 2 or 3 days before putting the pieces back in your truck.

    Thanks man.

I'm going to keep it stock (in terms of suspension and tires, etc...) so there's not much I can do.

And yet another post as to why I named this build what I did...

Installed all the dash trim pieces that I painted black yesterday.

The semi-gloss is not that good of a match to the factory OEM black trim pieces which appear to be more flat. However, it's better than the fading blue/gray I was constantly faced with every day.

Anyway... if my spray painting skills didn't suck major balls (seriously, if I ever developed a huffing habit, I'd screw that up too) it probably could have come out better. And of course when reinstalling the pieces (namely the two caps that sandwich the steering column) I took major chunks of paint of the trim....

...so what do I do? Saturate the end of a q-tip with spray paint and do a little touch up. lol.... yeah, that's my style [IMG]

Anywho... here are the obligatory pics
