All you will need is a drill, bit and rivet tool.

Another question. What made you go with the UltraGauge instead of the ScanGauge?

I actually don’t know much about either one so I’m just looking for info from people who have already made the choice.

    Are you auto or manual?

I absolutely love my UG. Much better format and it’s super easy to set up.

I didn't even know about the ScanGauge when I purchased my UltraGauge.
I am happy with the UltraGauge so far. Only thing I wished it had was oil pressure.

I think I'm going to put my relay box in that space too.

I did not have to move my cruise control box when I made the fuse panel mount.

I have a separate panel with the breakers for the auxiliary fuse panel, auxiliary battery and rear quick connect/disconnect plug for my trailer battery.

Andrew, I spent a lot of time playing with both the SG and the UG while developing my a-pillar mounts for them. In my opinion, they are both good gauges, and will give you the same information - all they do is display data from the OBDII port that the ECU provides.

The main differences are user interface and cost.

The UG can display up to 8 gauges at once, compared to SG's maximum of 4. Realistically, most people choose the 6 gauge display setting (like in Jason's picture above), as the eight gauge display is too busy. So the UG wins over the SG in this regard.

Every SG can display trans temps in '99+ models. To get that in the UG, you have to step up to the UG MX, which is $10 more than the basic UG EM. Still even the UG MX is about $89, or about $40 less than the SG, which wildly fluctuates in price between $120 and $150. So another win for the UG.

UG has settable audible alarms for things like high temps, etc. SG does not have that feature, so you have to keep your eye on the gauge if you really want to catch overheating early, before blowing a head gasket. I find that unrealistic, so for me, this alone makes the UG a hands down winner.

The one thing I don't like about the UG is that all the menu buttons are on the back. It's not hard to reach them, but it's annoying nonetheless. In contrast, the SG buttons are on the front. Some folks have modified the UG mounting to give it a "touch screen" capability, so you just push on the corners of the UG to activate the three buttons. I haven't tried that yet.

As to your follow up question, neither can display oil pressure for the tacos as that data is not provided by the ECU.

This is fantastic info Leon. Thank you!!

Is the mount you’re working on compatible with the UG?

    Sorry for thread jacking D!

You're welcome Andrew! I made mounts for both, equal opportunity :). These only work for '96-00 tacos, I'm still finalizing them for '01-04.

Thanks I need to get a distribution block. Are you running a isolator for your winch?
