I have a couple of days off so I want to do some needed maintenance. I did my Tundra front brake upgrade last year, so it was time to do my rear brakes. Replaced the shoes and drums with OEM parts.
I also extended the transmission, transfer case and front differential breathers and routed them to a central location.

Gave the truck a good look over, found a leak at the speed sensor, replaced o-ring.

Permanently mounted my CB and mounted my light switch panel.

Nice to get stuff done for sure. Where did the breather come from? I don’t recognize the brand.

Kudos on the rig, functional first and foremost. It has been awhile since I have seen the inside of a true desert rig with the fine patina of dust that comes from living there not just visiting. Stock radio?

I picked it up from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07V3C77HY/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

My wife gets after me for not keeping my truck cleaner. I tell her it is just going to get dirty again.

Copy that, my main concern has always been and will always be- does it work?

Of course living in a dry off grid cabin, that means it only gets washed and vacuumed at work....

Since my last post a few things have happened that required a rescue and a tow home.

1st: On my way home from work at 0400 the o-ring on my remote filter blew out. I had to remove the adapter and oil lines. Then I just put a standard oil filter back on and drove home. That took four hours, had to wait for the parts store to open.

2nd: The next week on my way home the timing belt broke. Only had about 80,000 miles on it. So I had to have my son come get me and tow me home.

3rd: After I removed the champion aluminum radiator, I discovered it had several leaks from the tubes to the lower tank. I replaced it with a Denso unit for a 4Runner, two inches taller.

Well yesterday I finally received all my new parts and got the truck running again. The only issue I have is it now runs 188° F with the new thermostat. The old one had the truck running at 178° F. I may put the old one back in.

Bummer. Could you maybe have a air bubble? Are you going to repair the remote oil filter?

I burped the system, it still wants to run at 188° F

I'm going to remove the remote oil system, all it needs is a new o-ring for the adapter.

    ARE DCU topper? NICE!
That looks pretty sweet on your rig! Looking good for certain.
Those are sweet, have one on my full-size truck128118EE-B4AA-43C0-8734-AF45FEB860E1.jpg
In retrospect I should have gone taller, but it is pretty sweet with lots of headroom and you can sit upright in it, access is great.
80k on the timing belt break? Toyota belt? that’s interesting, I have a friend that bought a used Highlander from another local and it had 165k and he took it in for some work and the frayed OEM belt was still hanging in there. Thankfully he did get it changed.
I have seen somewhere on one of the threads about radiators, that Koyorad now makes an all aluminum radiator for 1st gen Tacomas: https://koyoradracing.com/news.asp?id=200
My Champion radiator is still not leaking, rubber mounting pads and not a lot of off road use lately are likely contributing factors, although I am seeing some leakage around the Stant cap. Which I believe is due to the design of the filler neck. It still runs cool and I just keep an eye on the coolant level, and carry a gallon of pre mixed coolant. I plan to go with the Koyorad radiator if this one goes south. Till then I’ll just keep running it.
Sounds like an O ring assortment is heading for your tool/parts kit.

Oh and 1 obligatory AlCan shot outside of Whitehorse- CV19 quarantine stuff- waiting for the Purolator courier office to open so I can drop off my CV19 test and get my self towards the border tomorrow:

You install the front slider? How hard was that? I wish mine had that feature?

If you have the 12" x 40" framed in section up front it is pretty easy. I ordered my window through Tom's Camperland for $120.00
Just cut out the front piece of aluminum, deburr and clean the surface and then screw it in. It came with butyl tape on it. All I had to do was change the locking clips, they were on the wrong side.
    IMG_20210607_132455_141.jpg

I just need to get some kind of seal between the cab and shell.
