When you clean the MAF sensor, do you have to disconnect the negative battery terminal, press the horn to deplete remaining power for ECU memory, and then reinstall it all? Or can you just clean it and put it back and restart the truck?

    Unplug it.
    Remove it.
    Clean it.
    Reinstall it.
    Plug it back in.
    Start truck.

The only thing the battery does is hold your tools and can of MAF cleaner.

    Have a good weekend.

As far as I know, the wires to/from the MAF is not energized when the ignition is off - but disconnecting the negative is a precaution that many do should there be a short somewhere.

I’d add just one thing, let the MAF air dry completely before installing it. Starting a vehicle with a wet MAF can cause a short damaging the MAF.

It's bait to start a thread that will drag on for many, many pages over a lengthy period.

And do not touch the actual MAF wire with anything but the MAF cleaning spray.

    I never had that issue.
The stuff I use dries as fast as carb cleaner.

But good advice none the less.
    Something to look for.
