Bought this truck in 2013 with 12,000 (u read that right). Never had any problems with it until a few weeks ago. Started throwing P010. Wasn’t running any different that was noticeable except MPG dropped - gas quality has gotten so inconsistent that it’s hard to say where the issue is. We could clear the code and the SE light might not come on for days or weeks. A few times it came on just after fueling.
Here’s the prob: MAFS #22204-0D030 was replaced w/22204-22010. Bought a Toyota one. Truck will not run with the new MAFS. Battery was disconnected about 30 minutes. Put the in the old MAFS and truck runs but will throw P010 periodically. Anybody if there some kinda reset that has to be done for the ECM to acknowledge the new part?

    Thanks,
    Michele

There is no reset/relearn for the MAF sensor, it's possible you got a bad part.
Did you try cleaning the old one and making sure all your intake hoses are hooked up properly?

I don’t know why the MAF will not work.
But P0010 doesn’t have anything to do with the MAF Sensor.

That code is for the Oil Control Valve on Bank 1. The passenger side.
I’d be looking at the Sensor or the OCI filter for the problem.

I'm asuming he meant to type p0100 (MAF sensor Circuit Problem)

It’s been cleaned a few times and 99.9% sure everything is connected right. Shoulda said that it started when the screws for the MAF backed out by themselves. This was about a year AFTER the cold air was put on. When it started throwing the code, we figured something got messed up with it from it bouncing around. Trying to eliminate every possibility before saying the new one is a dud and all the hassle that goes with it.

Next question is is it installed the correct direction? They only work correctly when facing the right way in the air flow.

I just went with what was posted.
I can’t remember all the codes, i know the 300s and 400s pretty good.
And if there were codes for the 4WD system, we’d both know every one of those by now. Lol

Well all OBD 2 codes are at least 5 characters and always start with a letter so it had to be p0010 or p0100 and since the post was about the MAF I went with it being p0100.

P0101 is a MAF range/performance code, if the sensor itself is clean you need to make sure there is no leaks in any of the air intake hoses/lines from the filter to the throttle body. Also make sure the throttle body is clean.
Not sure why it won't run with the new sensor, I see it's a different part number so possibly the wrong one or defective part?

P0101 - Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit Range / Performance Problem

    •High voltage:Conditions (a), (b) and (c) continue for more than 10 seconds (2 trip detection logic)
    (a) Engine speed less than 2,000 rpm
    (b) Engine coolant temperature 70°C (158°F) or higher
    (c) Voltage output of Mass Air Flow (MAF) meter more than 2.2 V (varies with Throttle Position [TP] sensor voltage)

•Low voltage:Conditions (a) and (b) continue for more than 10 seconds (2 trip detection logic)
    (a) Engine speed more than 300 rpm
    (b) Voltage output of MAF meter less than 0.83 V (varies with TP sensor voltage)

Trouble Areas MAF Meter ( Sensor).

MONITOR DESCRIPTIONThe MAF meter is a sensor that measures the amount of air flowing through the throttle valve. The ECM uses this information to determine the fuel injection time and to provide an appropriate air-fuel ratio.
Inside the MAF meter, there is a heated platinum wire which is exposed to the flow of intake air. By applying a specific electrical current to the wire, the ECM heats it to a specific temperature. The flow of incoming air cools both the wire and an internal thermistor, affecting their resistance.

To maintain a constant current value, the ECM varies the voltage applied to these components of the MAF meter. The voltage level is proportional to the airflow through the sensor, and the ECM uses it to calculate the intake air volume. If there is a defect in the sensor, or an open or short in the circuit, the voltage level deviates from the normal operating range. The ECM interprets this deviation as a malfunction in the MAF meter and sets the DTC.

Example:If the voltage is more than 2.2 V, or less than 0.83 V while idling, the ECM determines that there is a malfunction in the MAF meter and sets the DTC.

HINT: If any DTCs other than P0101 are output, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

    Replace MAF Sensor.

No other codes ever. The 22010 replaced the 0D030. New MAF is an OEM Toyota/Denso

Hi, was there a resolution to this? I had this code, cleaned my throttle body, then replaced the MAF with a Denso Genuine Toyota one and still have the code. I have heard about idle relearn procedures after cleaning the T-Body, but my cold start idle is 1450 RPM and warm is about 1050 and i think this is within specs.
