It shouldn't if you mount it correctly. Maybe putting washers or something on the other side of the mount to help spread the weight on the plastic.

Camper top with racks, Custom fogs behind lower bumper. Interior LED lighting, Rock Lights, Hella 500s with upraged bulbs behind black billet grill, AAL, Front 5100s
Another option is to mount it in the console lid. Pics in my build.

i just did this also, i was a little worried about the plastic too but i did it with the regular screws it came with and it is pretty tight, seems ok when i remove it or put it back in the clips.

Here's my 5D mounted in my first gen...I bought two maglite mounts from Amazon, removed the forward console, and braced the inside with an 1/8th inch steel bar, then attached the mounts from the outside. Pretty sturdy, but one did break recently. Just remember to warn friends before they to remove it, cause it is very tight.

I don't know why, but I can't get those Maglite mounts to last worth a $hit!

Broke my second pair recently. Does anyone else have to replace these often?

x2, No problems with mine. I mounted it on the floor next to the drivers seat, it is a lot more solid there than on the seat. You do have to make sure there are no wires under the carpet before you mount it.
