So i was walkin around the store and decided i'd get somethin for the new yota today. so i went ahead and got a 3 Dcell magite with clips. I know ppl have been mountin them on the side of the drivers seat between the door or on the front part of the storage boxes in the back seat( In access cabs atleast). So has anyone mounted em anywhere else? i cant decide where to put it, so i figured i would ask yal to help me... So where would yal put it?

I've seen them mounted upright on the pillar.

Unless you need a club, just leave it at home and buy yourself a nice flashlight, a Surefire, Fenix, JetBeam, Streamlight or a O-Light. All about the size of a roll of coins with more output.

Yeah I like those high output lights, but the battery life is really short compared to the Maglite L.E.D.
But then again, I've had this mag in my truck for over 3yrs, and I never had to use it yet. That reminds me, I better replace the batteries before they leak.:D

That's nice and all... but you have a 3 or 4 D cell torpedo flying around the cabin even with a minor trouncing.. much less a crash.

GEt a bracket that's more like a fire extinguisher bracket. Something that won't just let the light fly around.
Or go with a modern style flashlight and keep it in your glove box.

the only downside is that the maglite needs to be removed when there is someone in the rear seat so they do not crack there head open if i get in to a wreck

I have mine on the drivers side. But mounted to the plastic on the floor not the seat. Its more sturdy there than the seat.

Mount? I always have my Surefire on me. BTW... CR123 batteries have a shelf life of 10+ years and some tactical lights will last for days in lower output modes. So if you want a glove compartment light that you know will work when you need it (and without any acid leakage), get yourself a tac light.

not if you set your maglite up correctly, i have a 4D maglite that puts out over 700 lumes, do that with a roll of quarters;)

edit, i also carry a cr123 "tac light" in my truck in case i need something smaller

Unless you have a highly modded Mag 4D you are not getting 700 lumens, now as far as lumes, I can't really say.

My mag light is a 4d LED and for the $29 price tag im sorry no tac light can compete with that. I have several other expensive flash lights but love my 4d the most.
