Magnaflow help

Well Im buying a muffler for my Taco (3.4l 5VZ-FE) as soon as I figure out what to get. I want Magnaflow. I know Dynomax is the best bang for the buck, but I dont think that will be loud enough for me. So Im looking at a Magnaflow 5x8x14 muffler but the only one I found was a 2.25 single in and a 2" dual out. So would this be a good muffler to where I wont loose any power through out the power band? and if not, where did yall buy a single in/single out?

 

I started by going to magnaflows website to determine which muffler I wanted by model name. For instance 5x8x14, 2.5" in 2.5" out, center in, center out. Then, armed with the correct part number(s), I started looking online for retailers. I found a large selection at Amazon, found the one I wanted by model number and ended up making a purchase there.

 

Thanks! what muffler did you go with? And did you notice any power loss?

 

I can't remember the part number now but it was 4x9x18 2.5" in and out, center in and out. Fits was very good, tucked up well out of the way, and using the stock tailpipe. Only had to add a small piece of piping in front of the muffler.

As for performance, I really love it. It isn't as loud as a flowmaster 40 (my buddy has one on his '00 TRD) but that is what I wanted. It sounds awesome when I want. I think combined with the deck plate mod, the v6 breaths much better. I didn't loose anything, in fact I gained a 1/2 mpg average and it feels like I got a wee bit of HP.

 

I have a 5x8x24 Magnaflow single in/out 2.5" with a dump after the axle. I got this one because ppl have said this is one of the quietest Magnaflows. But because I have a cold air intake and headers, my exhaust is louder than some Tacomas with mufflers that are supposed to be louder. The drone gets very irritating on long drives especially on uphill grades. I may end up installing a resonator to reduce some drone. My 2 cents.

 

Sweet. Ok thanks guys. Im going to order the 5x8x14 2.5" center in offset out with a turndown after the axle. I think with my deckplate mod, muffler ans soon to be TRD headers. It should sound sick.
