Our illustrious CO DOT uses Mag Chloride on the roads when it snows.

This has blotched the lame chrome-foiled grill and badging on my MGM queen.
If I put the chrome junk back on it'll just blotch again and I'd rather have the MGM grill and blacked door and tailgate badging anyway.

I THINK the MGM grill is #53100-04410-B1, online sources has this grill, but can't find any info on the Shadow Black? badging. Is this available somewhere or does it have to be painted?

    Thanks,

    Whit

Just got the following from a helpful TX gal...

That is what I did to my tacoma as well! The black badges are for the x-runners, they had limited badging. There is no black replacement for the grill logo, they are all chrome, it comes on the grill like that.
The black "Tacoma" for the left side of the tailgate is # 75427-04020-C0 , you can also get 2 more of these to put on the front doors, the x-runner didn't have any on the doors.
The black "toyota" for the left side of the tailgate is #75471-04040-C0 .
The x-runner did not have "limited", "v6" "sr5" or "pre-runner", so they are not offered in black from Toyota. You can always sand and paint your exisiting ones.

So in August of 2009, when Cash for Clunkers was still going on, I went to buy a Taco. I wanted a 2009 MGM DCSB TRD Sport Prerunner, but all I could find in Houston, at the time, was SSM Tacos. So I bought a 2009 SSM DCSB TRD Sport Prerunner. Ever since then I had drooled over the MGM and regretted not getting 4x4. Well, on Cinco de Mayo 2012, I FINALLY got a MGM. Its a 2012 MGM DCSB 4x4 Sport with Entune and Tow package. I F*CKING LOVE THIS TRUCK!!!

Already got the black FJ TRD Center caps on order. Gonna paint the stock 17" Sport wheels black once the center caps come in.

Are you going to have your rims coated or something? Have you seen a picture of anyone else doing this? I am very interested in black rims without having to buy all over again.

No, I am going to paint them myself. I painted my 17" sport wheels gun metal/anthracite on my 2009 and they came out great. The trick is proper prep work, priming, sanding, curing and painting. It took me 2 1/2 days to do all 4 wheels on my 2009. But they looked professionally done and held up great. I had them painted for about 2 1/2 years and they looked brand new when I traded the truck in last weekend. Even the dealer asked me "are those special edition wheels from Toyota?". When I told him they were painted he asked what shop did it, and then couldn't believe I did them myself in a garage.

That's the color I wanted, my wife wanted white, settled for Silver Streak. It's ok. One advantage of the lighter colors is the truck stays cooler, especially if you have a topper on it. Sitting in the back with a dark-colored topper can be like hell. The kids and dogs tend to hang out in the bed with the topper, so it's all good.
