The majority of the post I made was saying he wont do it, and it would be bad for him to do it...

 

Yeah, if you want to keep the profit coming into your hands, stuff has to be locked up, nothing shared.... even if it's to better the cause and/or be nice. People will f*ck you over without ever giving it a second thought. I learned that the hard way in the business world.

 

The tunes are locked to protect the IP of the individual / business that is providing the calibrations.
It is up to the person/company who protected the file to offer it as locked or unlocked.
Any vF Tuner user who attempts to bypass these locks or encryption without authorization by the pro tuner will have their license permanently revoked.

 

Absolutely agree. I think some of these posters work in jobs that don't involve business decisions so they don't understand.
A quick primer for those of you not in a business job:
1. Your sole objective is to make business decisions to improve your company's bottom line. That's it.
2. There are no friends in business. There are partners and alliances.
3. There are no emotions in business.
4. You neither like nor dislike other people in making business decisions.
5. There are no days off in senior business management. 24/7/365
6. There are no vacations in senior business management. You simply go to a different place to work for a week.
7. There are no dumb business people. Those who were are not there anymore.
8. Beat the competition before they beat you.
9. There is no end. Only increasing goals.
10. Lastly, if you think any of the rules above are untrue, then you are slacking in your business job and will not last.

You also should be a professional drinker because more decisions are made in bars than boardrooms.

You're list is probably correct for many/most businesses. However, for me, as the owner of a 13 year successful small consulting business, I do not subscribe to #1, 3, 5, 6. Yes, I maybe leaving some $ on the table, but heck, it still keeps me as a 1%'er that can sleep well at night.

Yeah I understand, I should have put some qualifiers in there, like business deals worth millions or billions, 100 employees to lay off or furlough, etc. That's what keeps you up at night. People.

 

So what I got from this is if we want to attempt to unlock a locked tune we should do this while not connected to any network that reaches out to the internet and do a full uninstall of the tuner software before we connect that machine to the internet again. Got it.

 

Won't help.
Just don't even try. It's Magnusons tune, and there is proprietary code.

Rather than try that, just use vF Tuner and make your own tune. We are happy to assist with our software.

 

would we be able to work from the 2.0 as a starting point or is starting from scratch where the process starts.

 

Do you know of any tuners that are well versed on vF Tuner in the Portland, Oregon area?

 

If you own the tune pack you can start from any tune you wanted.

Lock the ECU from being accessed. In what way ? Will we still be able to reflash to our own tune and back to theirs ? What about the data logger ? With a locked tune can you see the parameters but not change them or can you not see them at all ?

 

You can still flash the ECU, datalog, etc. You just cannot readout the calibration that is on the ECU. Reading the file off the ECU is disabled.
You also cannot load their files in vF Tuner.

does/will urd use vftuner for their supercharger or something else? at the end of the day, im gonna get blown. one way; or another. get your minds out the gutter lol.
