Magnuson Supercharger install and modifications

It is literally OV Tunes VF flash utility. They just send the file once you reach out to them

 

One of the major reasons, I’m guessing, is that it insures that you are installing the latest revision of the tune. Also from a manufacturing standpoint it allows you to get all of the hardware boxed up and ready to ship as soon as the software is ready.

 

makes you register online with them as well, if you want the kit to run, that is. I've never installed any software from my mailbox if i can download it.

 

You can read error codes with the Flash manager and clear them.
The buttons are up top “read dtc” and “clear dtc”

 

I would try disconnecting the battery for 10 min then try again, hopefully you had at least 12.4 volts when you were flashing it.

 

That sucks, sorry to hear that. Try clearing DTC with VFT. You probably have a CEL from when you tried to start the truck with the fuel pump fuse removed at the beginning to relieve the fuel line pressure. ECU probably thinks you have a fuel pump failure.

 

They need to know which ECU version and tire size you have.

 

Gadget from URD was telling me that he's worked on Tacomas with all sorts of ECUs and aftermarket tunes and they tend to receive wack numbers on the dyno. Most people don't know how to properly account for tire size, gearing, added weight and configurations. He was relieved when he realized I had stock ECU and he worked with me to get my tune perfect after the install or URD's supercharger

 

@Bascoma - did you also install the AFE downpipes at the same time as the SC? Just remember you said before that you ordered these.

When flashing the tune did you get a "Flash completed successfully" message? I'm thinking either the tune they sent you is not correct or it didn't flash correctly leading to your limp mode.

Did you check for the possibility of a vacuum leak somewhere too?

 

Might be best to double check connectors and everything first though... Rather than waiting for tech support from them

 

I cancelled the down pipes. They said they were back ordered but I didn’t want to wait and I wanted my money back (still waiting). I got “successfully flashed”. Going to check connections tonight.

 

I am going to do that tonight. I really hope I just f’d up and missed one.

 

My fault!!! I forgot to plug in the passenger side injector rail...... plugged in! Reset codes. Running perfect!!! I have to get back to work but will report back later! Phew!!!!

lol! I remember in one of my previous Mustangs wondering why it was running like trash and I had done the same thing: forgot to plug in one or more of the injectors.

Only slightly less concerning than the time I forgot to plug in the electric water pump. Thank god I was only doing a short test drive after some modifications and it only just started to smoke as I pulled into my garage. Cut that one real close...

Once, as a young wet behind the ears pup, I dressed all my spark plug wires because they were ‘all crazy and shit’. Much cleaner and organized once I was done. Surprising, I didn’t blow anything important before my step dad came out and did an admirable job of not laughing his ass off at me.

 

They've been pretty quiet about the tuning side. Are they tuning the stock ECU or using a piggyback?

Interesting input. Also, tune is locked so even if u sent it to someone it wouldnt be tuneable.
