    Did you take out the brass restrictor? That makes a BIG difference in throttle response

    Has anyone posted any pics on where this restrictor is on the third gen Magnuson? I keep hearing about it but not having done the install I don’t know where I’m looking.

    Ha! NP! I took these because I had to look through a few threads to find the correct part and location.

    also... get some pliers and twist the insert back and forth before pulling it out. It is held in with some sort of loctite/adhesion promoter.

    Box 1 of 2 came early - box 2 of 2 with hoses, brackets and LTR should show up tomorrow. Now I need a window of warm weather because I don't need to work in a cold garage. Probably start taking stuff off and drain fluid based on the website instructions while I wait for the paper document and will replace serpentine belt and plugs while I am at it. Gonna take the brass restrictor out before install.

    Edit: Box 2 of 2 is here! gonna read the install instruction a half dozen more times and hopefully by then the weather will be warmer and there will be more sun light to work under. Compiling items for standard maintenance now. Good thing the lawn does not need mowed!

    I’m installing my TRD CAI today and it was super tight getting the new lid on the air box. Those with this setup, did you do any mods to get it to fit?

    Make sure you put the boost gauge fitting in BEFORE you install the lower intake to the engine....

    Yes this. But it isn’t THAT bad to do it later if you decide to add a boost gauge.

    looks like a boost gauge is a must if I want to use vFT logger to create a tune I can edit to include OVT shifting logic - unless Magnuson can convenience me they actually did include it in their tune. Plus I need to know for certain what MAPS to log to ensure a proper and complete Tune.

    If you plan on building your own tune I'd suggest a wideband O2 sensor installed somewhere upstream of primary cats.

    But i just got a basic Autometer Cobalt mechanical gauge. The color matches the dash pretty well. Install is to run a 1/8" line of tubing from the back of the SC, thru the firewall, and to the gauge. I ran the tubing thru one of the grommets on the drivers side and then tapped in to the fuse panel for power.

    No there isnt. Its just an oldschool gauge.

    I'd suggest something like the Innovate PSB1 that does both boost and AFR and can log. I was looking in to that but decided to keep it basic

    I use the cobalt mechanical gauge too. I think they have a more expensive digital model that probably has an output for logging.

    It matches the stock gauges nicely. I added a variable resistor and tapped into the dash light circuit so the backlight only comes on with my headlights. When the guage is dimmed it is very unobtrusive.

    No. Determination and patience. Don’t force anything... I had to push the top unit towards the motor and then settle it in the rear and clip.

    I vaguely recall Matt saying 2 afr are necessary for tuning as one (downstream) bank of DI will run out of fuel. Something to keep in mind for you bleeding edge folk.
